Shane’s ranch is secluded yet accessible and is relatively easy terrain to hunt in, making the experience user-friendly and pleasant. Finding late season elk is hit or miss. If you’re successful, extraction will not be very difficult given the amount of access available throughout the ranch. A solid strategy would be to not limit your hunt to the ranch. Also consider hunting the nearby public parcels of BLM and state land along the county road, as shoulder season elk herds move around quite a bit. Shane’s cabin is absolutely lovely! I would happily stay there for a week or more and enjoy the living experience alone. Shane is very pleasant and accommodating and will help you with any special needs.

Cherry Creek Ranch is the first LandTrust property we’ve experienced. We were looking for a family-friendly deer hunting “camp” for a hunt with my wife and daughter and our expectations were met 100%! Rochelle was a first-rate and accommodating host, and we each came home with a deer. The ranch house was charming, immaculate, and cozy. Overall, a fantastic experience I’d highly recommend. We’re coming back to Cherry Creek Ranch this summer for some fly fishing! I would like to add that this being our first LandTrust.com experience, we were very pleased. The booking was easy, and the rate fair and reasonable. Instead of having to spend a lot of money traveling a long distance to hunt on public land, we were able to spend less and have a fantastic experience on a local ranch. We are impressed with the LandTrust model and are currently looking for our next opportunity within it!
