Top 10 Questions asked about LandTrust
You’ve had questions. We heard you—and now we have answers. At LandTrust, we receive a lot of feedback from users, so we thought it would be helpful to compile the top questions we get, provide answers, and point you to where you can find them in the future.
“How’s the population looking this year?”
Answer:
While we wish we had the resources to monitor the population health of every species across all the states we serve, we simply don’t. That said, LandTrust has a great feature called Field Notes, which offers real-time updates from Landowners about populations and general activity. If you’re curious about a specific species, you can also send an inquiry to the Landowner directly through the platform—safely and securely—before booking.

“Are my preferred dates still open?”
Answer:
We hope so! Each property has a calendar showing the dates that are already booked or blocked out by the Landowner. Some properties are located in highly sought-after areas, so availability can go quickly. A LandTrust+ membership gives you early access to new properties—helping ensure you get first dibs on your preferred dates.

“What unit/zone is the ranch in, and do I need to draw a tag?”
Answer:
Every package lists the unit/zone, available species, and tag availability in the “GMU and Species Info” section (when applicable). A LandTrust+ membership includes Tag Insurance, allowing you to book a hunt before the draw. If you don’t draw a tag, we’ll refund the trip.

“Can I bring my bird dog or house dog? What about kennels in the lodging?”
Answer:
It’s entirely up to the Landowner. Most of our properties are working agricultural operations that may use dogs themselves, so some don’t allow guests to bring dogs—but many do! Check the “Property Access & Ground Rules” section in each listing. If it’s still unclear, just send the Landowner an inquiry and ask.

“Do you have stands or blinds, or should I bring my own?”
Answer:
Every property is unique in its terrain and layout. Listings include a “What’s Included” section that notes amenities like tree stands, ground blinds, game cameras, and feeders (where applicable). But it’s your hunt—we want you to enjoy it. If you prefer to bring your own gear, reach out to the Landowner to discuss.

“What’s included in the price—lodging, meals, a guide?”
Answer:
It depends. Package contents and pricing are determined by the Landowner to best fit their property and operation. Check the “Pricing Details” section to see what’s included. Some packages are priced per guest, others per party. Some are per day, others for multiple days. We don’t hide fees—everything is clearly disclosed.

“How successful are hunters on your properties?”
Answer:
It’s up to the Landowner and past guests to share that info—but many do. You’ll often find success photos in the property’s Field Notes. Still curious? Feel free to ask the Landowner directly before booking.

“Can my kid or youth hunter come?”
Answer:
If they’re joining as a hunter—absolutely! None of our properties prohibit youth hunting, and several even offer packages specifically for youth or first-time hunters. LandTrust is a great platform for young or new hunters to experience a hunt in a more controlled setting. If they’re just tagging along as an observer and you’re wondering about a reduced rate, we recommend messaging the Landowner to ask. We’re working to make this more clear on the site but aren’t quite there yet.

“What is the cancellation or weather policy?”
Answer:
LandTrust’s policy is as follows:
If a guest cancels a confirmed booking within 48 hours of confirmation, they’ll receive a full refund. Unless otherwise specified in the listing, if a guest cancels more than 48 hours after confirmation, they will not receive a refund.
This policy helps protect Landowners, who often have only a limited window of opportunity to generate income from their properties due to the seasonal nature of many activities.

“Can we talk by phone or text before I book?”
Answer:
Of course! You can always inquire through the platform safely and securely. Most Landowners are thrilled to see interest in their property and are happy to answer any questions. In fact, many Landowners and guests form lasting friendships after a few conversations.
