230 acres

Our great grandparents purchased the farm back in the early 1900’s, making it now a 5-generation farmstead.

The farm has about 230 acres in total, with a half-mile of creekbottom on the Twelve Mile Creek. We have over 5 miles of non-continuous ditches that are hotspots for the farm's population of pheasants. The hayfields are also highly productive for whitetails, despite the farm being only about 6 miles from the Heights in Billings.

Property Visited

There was a whole bunch of pheasants hanging out in the hayfield and uncut grass. We also jumped several whitetails while walking around the property.

I had an absolute blast at 12 mile Ranch. The access was great. If you're a bird hunter this is a great day trip. Close to town. I was hunting white tail (bow) and there was no shortage of deer. Unfortunately due to an outside emergency my trip was cut short. I will however go back. Great location, stellar ranch.

Twelve Mile Farm is the name we chose to represent our farm because it has Twelve Mile Creek running through it, which brings a ton of wildlife to the surrounding land.

We are grateful for our past ancestors who moved to the farm over a hundred years ago. Our Great Grandpa Johnson worked the farm to produce hay for their cattle ranch in the Bull Mountains. They also kept a large vegitable garden, an orchard, chickens, pigs, milk cows and draft horses. Now with the 5th generation being raised on it, we continue to work the land and keep animals.

Of the +230 acres, the farm offers a good mix of hay fields, cattle pasture, creekbottom and spring fed marsh areas that allow for all kinds of wildlife to live in. We are proud of our land and hope others can enjoy it as we have.
