Ahlgren Ranch North
The Ahlgren Ranch is a true story of a transitioning Montana ranch. Extended family members originally bought the ranch 30 years ago from Montana landowners who did not have the opportunity to pass it along to family. Similarly, we bought the ranch in spring 2021, although we have been involved in the operation for many years. We are enthusiastic about the endless opportunities that this cow/calf cattle ranch has to offer, while respectful of the history of the land.
Expanding across 5,000 acres, the Ahlgren North Ranch consists almost entirely of cattle grazing grasslands. Occasionally, we’ll grow a few hundred acres of hay on the north end around the homestead. These rolling hills with cut coulees provide a great habitat for mule deer, antelope and upland birds. There isn’t much water or timber to be found throughout the prairie land, but the deer and birds, like sharpies and grouse, are found scattered about. Untouched native land, we do a holistic type of grazing on the ranch and try to accommodate wildlife management and hope to continue to see these species flourish in the area.
Visitors can park on the east side of the property and hike in from there. RV camping can occur in this same location, and a tent can be pitched anywhere on the ranch. Otherwise, the nearest town of Winnett, MT is just 10 miles away and has a motel and Airbnb options, including our own Airbnb: Broadway Tiny Home. If you’d like to stick close to the property, ‘Mckenna Bunkhouse’ is only half a mi le from the south fence line.
There is no minimum or maximum number of days required when booking. If I am on the property during your trip I am more than happy to help retrieve the harvest.
We hope our visitors will respect the land in the same way that we do and will please leave the grounds the way they were found. We are looking forward to hosting you on the Ahlgren Ranch!

The water tanks throughout the property are a huge resource for the deer and antelope. The small coulees close to the tanks almost always have game in them, you just have to be patient and look closely!
