7,000 acres

The Alexander Ranch is a 5th-generation working cattle operation proudly based in Sun City, Kansas.

Over the years, the Alexander Ranch has received widespread recognition for our wildlife and land management practices. We are also the proud recipient of the 2019 Leopold Conservation Award, a product of our family's commitment to leave the land better than we found it.

The property itself consists of 7,000 acres of rolling hills and rangeland featuring natural springs and fourteen ponds.

At this time, we don't have any lodging available; however, camping and RV stays (hookups available) are permitted on the property. Local lodging and other amenities are also available just twenty minutes away in Medicine Lodge. We are located less than two hours from Wichita.

Hunting/working dogs are allowed if you maintain positive control of your dogs and they don't mess with my cattle.

Property Visited

The Alexander Ranch is aesthetically like stepping back in time. Lush ground cover and rolling hills with several ponds. Looks ideal for quail. Conditions are a bit dry right now, but farmers have observed multiple quail coveys in their travels around property. Please note that bird dogs are a must and be prepared to log some miles.

I love fishing on the Alexander Ranch. And the trip through the pasture to get to the ponds. Ted & Brian have put decades of top notch management into their land...and it shows. That management is reflective in the wildlife resources present.

This was our second trip over to fish on the Alexander Ranch. It was awesome. Weather was not ideal but the fish were biting and the surroundings and atmosphere made the whole afternoon quite enjoyable. Brian is an exceptional caretaker.

Really neat property. Was able to spend a liitle time with Brian and learn about the land that has been in his family for over 100 years. NIce to find a rancher that is interested in birds and wildlife habitat. These folks know how to grow grass. Stayed on site in my RV. He did not have a full hook up yet so I was boondocking but he should have full electric and water soon. Easy to get in and out in a 30 to 40 foot RV. Nice to be out in the country away from everything. The hunting didn't work out for us but most of that was on the weather. Hot one day and then rain and super windy the next 2.

My daughter, nephew, and myself made the trip over to Barber County to fish on the Alexander Ranch. Brian is an exceptional steward and it is very evident. He also is an exceptional host and made sure we had full access to what we needed to have a good afternoon of fishing. In addition, Brian had some good recommendations for bait and which lures work the best. We had access to 4 ponds to fish but only utilized 2 of them. The fishing was so good we hated to leave. We most definitely will be back again.

Brian was an excellent host and his property is is awesome. He was helpful with directions and suggestions with areas likely to have birds. There are several draws with timber and all the right cover for quail. We were able to get up three large covey and picked up singles out of those with a dog. I will definitely reserve this property in the future.
