Bear Mountain Hunting Park
Primitive campsites
for outdoor recreationalists and hunters are situated in an unmowed field off of a non maintained town road (Bear Hill Road), very private recreation area on private land surrounded by thousands of acres of forested woods.
Learn more about this land:
Camp out in the heart of Vermont's Great North Woods region, which is an unofficial region of Vermont, and is located mainly in the Northeast Kingdom, bordering New Hampshire and Québec. The Northeast Kingdom region of Vermont is very remote and rural. The northern part of the Green Mountain National Forest is nearby.
Open for hunting (when in season), camping and public hiking in the summer. These primitive campsites are in a mountain field overlooking several mountains. Trail connections link the network with Kingdom Trails going in all directions such as routes to New Hampshire and the rest of Vermont.
Camp and hunt: An ideal location for "forest bathing" after you set up camp. Eat, sleep, hunt !
A homemade outhouse is located in the corner of the field near the road. Although it keeps getting knocked over by Bears and Moose!
Moose, bear, deer, pheasants, wolves, coyote, snowshoe hares, grouse, woodcock, wild turkey, bobcat, and many other wildlife can be seen occasionally as you explore this upland forest and the bottom lands heading down the road and trails, a pristine wetland area, known for a beaver pond. Good bird watching.
The access road to the campsites in the field is rough. Vehicles with extra clearance are recommended. NOT KIDDING, WALK THERE FIRST AND CHECK OUT THE ROAD BEFORE MAYBE GETTING YOUR VEHICLE STUCK!
Hunters and campers should come prepared with fly, mosquito, tick repellents without which you will be literally eaten alive in June and July. After mid-August the insects are less vexing. NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS EITHER! ***EATEN ALIVE!!!***
Obtain drinking water from route 102, there is a long pipe jutting out from a mountain side off of the road. Bathe at Maidstone State Park in the pond if you like. Miles away from the campsite - if you need to get clean. Loud partying is discouraged after 11:30pm. YOU PROBABLY ONLY WAKE UP SOME OWLS!

Kenneth is a down to earth friendly guy, but do not make him angry! He can go "Whitey Bulger" on you! Other than that everything is great! Although he has to hide the fact that animals are being killed on his land from his girlfriend. He found out how strongly she felt about this when he asked her to help him skin a beaver. She said how would you like it if your mother (the Beaver) went out to get you somethig to eat and never ever came home again! Wow! I never thought of this like that, she is kind of right I guess?
