The Connie Achterberg Wildlife-Friendly Demonstration Farm is a wildlife sanctuary that is managed to show how agriculture and wildlife can coexist. Deer are numerous on the property and we are allowing hunting only to help manage the deer population. Deer overpopulation can be seen as the presence of a distinct browse line and numerous deer trails throughout the property.
Because hunting is being allowed strictly for management purposes, only antlerless deer are to be harvested and deer hunting will only be open to three parties for one week each in November, 2022.

Landowner Rules: Trails are uneven and river banks are steep and high. Please watch your footing and children. Dogs must be on a leash to prevent disturbance to ground-dwelling birds like quail and turkey. No restroom facilities are available. Leave no trace - take out everything you pack in, including toilet paper and other 'biodegradables'. No mushroom picking. Seed collecting allowed if for personal use. Do not collect all the seed present on any given plant to allow for natural seed dispersal and wildlife food.
