Take a break from the field with a guided tour of the ranch’s regenerative systems. Learn how rotational grazing, no-till cropping, and cover crops are used to rebuild soil health, improve forage, and support native species. Guests can visit the on-farm store for pasture-raised beef, pork, and eggs, and walk through grazing paddocks that tell a deeper story of land recovery and stewardship.
As part of our values, we emphasize the importance of relationships, communication, and trust. We actively encourage our community to become involved in understanding the importance of where their food begins. We want to help build our community’s understanding of why our soil quality matters.
We have hosted youth field trips, soil health café talks, and rain infiltration demonstrations to help educate community members.
As a member/Director of South Dakota Soil Health Coalition & South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, member of South Dakota Grasslands Coalition, Vice President of Pennington Soil Conservation District, and a partner with NRCS, we ensure the research and knowledge we teach are accurate and tangible.
We are happy to customize the tour based on your group's specific needs!
About the Ranch:
Just 20 minutes from Rapid City, Dry Creek Farm & Ranch offers sportsmen access to 1,550+ acres of regenerative ranchland on the edge of South Dakota’s Buffalo Gap National Grassland. We are a first-generation family operation with a focus on regenerative practices and traditional values. In the fall of 2015, we began our shift from a traditionally-managed ranching operation to a holistically-managed operation: replacing tilled farming methods with no-till methods, incorporating managed intensive grazing practices, shifting from corn finished to grass finished and focusing on improving the soil with the implementation of cover crops.
We are now an Audubon-Certified Bird Friendly Ranch, and have loved seeing how the ranch has benefited from these changes over the years. Another by-product of our practices is the great hunting opportunities here at the ranch!
We're looking forward to having hunters out to the ranch this season!
During your visit, please let us know if you'd like to hear more about our operation and regenerative practices. We can also arrange to have Beef, Pork, and Lamb raised here on the ranch ready to take home after your hunt!
