Elk Creek Adventures

Nearest Town, Grass Range, Montana
3,000 acres
Lodging Available

Book a nightly stay during the non-hunting season and antlerless elk shoulder season, or book a week-long hunt during hunting season.

Elk Creek runs right through the middle of this 3,000-acre property, located in central Montana. The Creek attracts all species, but is particularly enticing for elk during and after breeding season. Both north and south ridges feature gently rolling hills and are timbered with ponderosa pine. The property is in close proximity of sizeable state and federal land holdings, which promotes a diverse population of wildlife including whitetail, mule deer, antelope, and turkey. The property also has a couple of resident turkey flocks, a few pheasants, and some sharptail grouse. The cabin used by guests is on the site of the original 1880's homestead and earliest inhabitants of Elk Creek.

The property is a rustic, remote, working cattle ranch. The cattle will occupy the ranch from June to November. The family that grazes their cattle frequent the ranch to check on cattle and perform routine cattle care activities.

Check out our 2024 package offerings, if you want something different contact us.

Both the hunting season package deal and the non-hunting season nightly rate allow our guests to access the entire deeded and connected state and federal land for your preferred recreational activity.

We encourage non-hunting season guests to take advantage of wonderful hiking opportunities, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and photography. We encourage our hunting season guests to hunt for the game of their choice that presents itself on the ranch.

We look forward to hosting you!

I have hunted Shane's place a few times, and I have always seen elk! Thick timber surrounds the property with open fields throughout that are frequented by elk, deer, the occasional antelope, and turkeys.

I really like bow hunting for elk on the Lazy K R Bar Ranch, which is why Elk Creek Adventures exists. I grew up on the ranch and I now take care of the property for my Dad. This is a working cattle ranch in the summer for grazing a little over 200 head of cattle. The elk mating season draws a lot of bull elk during bow season. Just seeing the elk and hearing the bulls talk to each other and to hear the bulls fighting is exciting enough in itself. We have adjoining access to state and federal land that lend themselves to good big game hunting also. I have three younger sisters and all four of us are involved in Elk Creek Adventures. The cabin that my Dad built on the old homestead site is magnificent. The cabin does not have running water, yet...
