The Flying W Ranch is an Audobon Certified Bird Friendly ranch in the heart of the Tallgrass Prairie in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
We manage our old-growth tallgrass prairie with sustainable and holistic practices for the benefit of our ecosystem, community, and world. The Flying W Ranch was the recipient of the 2020 Kansas Leopold Conservation Award, an award achieved by a commitment to these practices and a devotion to stewarding the land for over five generations.
Lodging on the property is not available yet, but is coming soon! For now, guests are invited to bring an RV or camp on the property. We are also just an hour's drive from Wichita, making for a great day-trip destination!

I am a 5th generation rancher in the old growth tallgrass prairie of the Kansas Flint Hills.
we operate a 7,000 acre ranch using sustainable and regenerative management. Our management is basically nature plus 2 or 3, that is that we let nature do what it wants, stay out of her way and add just 2 or 3 management practices that make our operation more profitable and more sustainable.
We like our hunting fishing and tourism the same way. Stay out of natures way, leave nothing but footprints and make our ecosystem better for having been here.
