The hayfields and creekbottom are a hotspot for deer.
Deer cruise between the wooded cover in the bottom and the hay pasture, especially in the evenings. The brushy edges of the pasture and timber provide good bedding cover, and the hay fields act as a consistent food source. Morning hunts along the creek or evening sits overlooking the pasture have proven to be productive setups for our family.
Farm is 48 acres, located in New York's WMU 7M about 30 minutes north of Binghamtom.
We seed the 15-acre pasture for hay each year, so there’s a steady food source drawing deer in from surrounding cover. Though we don’t graze livestock here, the natural forage, brushy edges, and timber stands provide everything whitetails need to bed, feed, and cruise through the property comfortably. Roughly 400 yards of creek bottom winds through the woods, offering water, cover, and a natural travel corridor, especially during early mornings and late-season cold snaps.
Freedom Farms has a compact footprint but hunts well thanks to the varied terrain and clear transitions between open ground and dense cover. Camping is permitted, so you're welcome to settle in for a longer hunt.
