Hofeldt Livestock
Hofeldt Livestock is a family-owned and operated farm and ranch just south of Chinook, Montana. Our family homesteaded this land in 1892. To this day we continue to steward our land with our family's rich history in mind.
The property, about 10,400 acres in total, features three areas with diverse landscape and habitat.
Area 1:
About half a mile south of Chinook, this area consists of just over 755 acres right on the Milk River. In addition to our river bottom, we also have some cropland and pasture ground as well.
Area 2:
This should be our best spot for mule deer. We have 3,100 secluded acres of wide open prairie and grasslands with rolling hills. There's also some decent creek bottom with draws and small breaks.
Area 3:
Our biggest area is about 6,500 contiguous acres of rolling hills and prairie. The Bean Creek and Clear Creek both flow through the property. Around the Clear Creek will be sportsmen's best place to go for whitetail.
We are open to guests camping or RVing on the property; however, both Chinook and Havre offer nearby lodging and restaurant options.

5.0Max, his wife, and son Levi were all great hosts! We had an open line of communication with Levi at all times. After lunch on the second day we had a chance to meet with Max. Salt of the earth type guy who really seemed to enjoy meeting new people. He seemed to genuinely want us to be successful. He steered us away from a location we had pulled out of thin air and pointed us to a better area. I could have sat and talked to Max all afternoon but the hunting on the property was good enough that I was anxious to go hunt! A+ experience and we will be back!

This is a very large and beautiful property, and we only had time to explore a small part of it. Hot weather on the first day of our hot limited the amount of time we actually spent hunting. We took some Sharptail grouse and also saw but did not harvest Huns. We also saw numerous antelope. The owners were easy to reach, friendly, and very helpful. We plan to come back in a future year.
