Turkey Ground just over 1.5 Hours from Indy!
This turkey hunting package is a 2-day minimum.
Turkeys use the hardwood ridges and creek bottoms for roosting and daily travel across the property. Birds move along the timbered slopes and through the bottomland areas as they transition between roost trees and feeding areas. The mix of hardwood timber, water, and open understory creates good conditions for locating birds throughout the property.
The property has experienced very limited hunting pressure over the past six years, allowing wildlife to move naturally throughout the landscape.
About the Property:
Located just outside Huntington, Indiana, this 168-acre wooded property offers a strong combination of timber, water, and surrounding agriculture that supports consistent wildlife. The property is fully timbered with mixed hardwoods and pines, creating thick bedding cover and shaded travel routes throughout the landscape. Ridges drop into bottomland areas where a large scenic stream winds through the property for roughly 1.5 miles. The creek features a hard stone bottom and can be crossed on foot in many locations, making it easy for hunters to move throughout the property while also serving as a natural travel corridor for wildlife.
The creek is also home to smallmouth bass that swim up from the Wabash River. It's a unique experience, and we're open to guests wanting to do some catch-and-release flyfishing! Fishing is free if you want to bring your fly rods during your hunt.
The terrain creates a mix of ridges, bottoms, and timbered slopes that naturally funnel animal movement. Deer activity tends to concentrate in the bottomland areas as animals travel between bedding cover and feeding locations across both this property and neighboring agricultural ground. Thick pockets of vegetation along the stream receive ample sunlight and provide ideal bedding areas, offering security and cover close to water and travel routes.
Food sources are plentiful throughout the property. Native forage grows across the timber, while mast-producing red and white oaks are scattered throughout the ridges and slopes. A newly established clover plot near the front of the property adds another consistent food source that draws wildlife into the area. With agriculture surrounding the property in every direction, the timber acts as a travel corridor and bedding area where deer move between feeding locations.
Despite the secluded setting, the property is conveniently located just minutes from Huntington, where hunters will find restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, and other amenities. Fort Wayne is roughly 30 minutes away, and Indianapolis is just over an hour-and-a-half drive, making the property accessible for both local and traveling hunters.
