La Dolce Vita Ranch is made up of mountains, valleys, ponds, heavily treed peaks with open vistas, and proximity to the Pike National Forrest. The property offers a healthy habitat to wildlife thanks to the plenty of shelter, sources of water, and natural forage.
We see elk or their fresh tracks a good amount. Last October (2023) there were roughly 100 elk (cows and bulls) bedded down across our driveway for the night. There are tons of regular movements here all through the season because of all the springs and livestock tanks on our property. We’re a stone’s throw from the National Forest, so when there’s hunting pressure there, all the elk and deer come down onto the ranch. Most of the ranch is above 9,000 ft elevation so we see more elk than deer.
My husband is a good tracker and keeps an eye on their patterns. Plus we have lots of springs, ponds, and livestock tanks, so they come and drink here and sometimes even bed down on our ranch at night.
Suggested Preference Points for a Successful Draw:
- Elk Archery Either Sex - Res 2 points, non-res 2 points
- Muzzleloader Either Sex - Res 2 points, non-res 3 points
- Rifle 1st season: 3 res, 4 non-res

RV and tent camping access is available. If you decide to stay off-property, Pike National Forest is only 15 minutes away and holds campgrounds on its 1,100,000+ acres. Our ranch is also located just 68 miles west of Colorado Springs.

Our stylish guest cabin is custom built with high quality insulation, windows, and hand-painted Mexican tiles, giving it a "southwest," rustic flair. There is 1 queen bed in a private bedroom. There are 2 foldout sofas, 1 queen and 1 twin, that are in communal areas. The cabin is complete with a custom home theater that can play DVDs onto a 5x8 foot screen. The historic town of Guffey, CO is only a 20 minute drive away and provides a post office, natural market, bakery, distillery, and two restaurants, one with live music and dancing on Saturday nights! Within 1 hour is the infamous Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge, and Eleven-Mile, Spinney, & Antero Reservoirs! Nearest airports are located in Colorado Springs (1.5 hours) and Denver (2.5 hours).

Our tent camping site is called the Bristlecone Camp. It's centrally located on the ranch, in a secluded wood of Bristlecone Pines and Aspens with a beautiful panorama and inspiring views to the north, east, and south.

We are a working family ranch in the high Montagne region of central Colorado. We raise grass-fed/grass-finished cattle and sheep using regenerative practices with land stewardship and animal health and welfare as priorities. We work under an agroecological framework to conserve and even improve the native ecology and wildlife habitat sharing our grazing lands. Rancher Giovanni, originally from Italy, is a multigeneration agrarian and craftsman, who has a knack for hospitality and keeps the ranch going round. Rancher Anna Clare is a rangeland ecosystem scientist and ranch consultant who puts her expertise into practice at La Dolce Vita. Both Giovanni and Anna Clare are also horse(wo)men, avid nature-lovers, and have extensive experience camping, hiking, trailriding, and hunting in the Colorado Rockies!
