Madsen Family Ranch
The Madsen Family Ranch is family cow calf operation out of Chadron, Nebraska. We operate on just over 3,700 acres here in Dawes County. This is great whitetail and antelope country, with some decent turkey hunting ground along the Deadhorse Creek, which runs through the ranch.
We are really looking forward to having folks out this season. I have lived on the ranch for 52 years, while the ranch has been in our family for over 100 years. The ranch was originally homesteaded by my great-great grandfather. In addition to our cattle, we also work some row crop ground on the ranch to help feed the cattle.
The ranch is located in the Pine Ridge Mule Deer Conservation Area (MDCA), so mule deer hunters need to draw a tag. Reach out to us with an inquiry if you have a tag, and we can see if we can get you out here for a hunt!
Hunters looking to stay on the ranch overnight can camp or RV; however, we are also located only about 20 minutes from Chadron, which has some local lodging options, a Holiday Inn, and a Best Western.

While visiting with Justin, we saw antelope out and about. Deadhorse creek looks to be a solid travel corridor for both deer and turkey running through their place. I observed decent cover along the creek with good food sources and water. Justin has a great setup for anyone trying to get after a whitetail, antelope, or turkey.

Justin was great! Driving into his property I saw antelope and deer right away. He took me around the property the evening I got there and showed me around. My trip was better than expected. I was fortunate enough to tag a nice antelope buck on opening morning. I saw multiple large groups, and some bucks that were bigger than the one I took. Justin has a great property, I saw a good number of mule deer and a TON of whitetails. Most of the whitetail bucks I saw were mature deer. I also saw a couple very large groups of turkeys, and a handful of coyotes. This property is very well managed. I will be back!

Reviewed by Landowner on October 2024 Our hunt at the Madsen Ranch was amazing. Justin took time out if his day to show us around. Telling us where the Antelope and deer frequent and even kept us updated if he saw some in an area we weren't in. He was very accommodating but didn't intrude and we had free reign of the place within the reasonable boundaries. Awesome place, awesome people. Woukd HIGHLY recommend

My dad and I hunted antelope on Justin’s property for three days, we had a blast! Justin was very welcoming, took time to show us around and answer all our questions. Archery antelope is tough anywhere, I did have a shot opportunity and saw good numbers every time we were out. It was a great experience!
