Madsen Family Ranch
The Madsen Family Ranch is family cow calf operation out of Chadron, Nebraska. We operate on just over 3,700 acres here in Dawes County. This is great whitetail and antelope country, with some decent turkey hunting ground along the Deadhorse Creek, which runs through the ranch.
We are really looking forward to having folks out this season. I have lived on the ranch for 52 years, while the ranch has been in our family for over 100 years. The ranch was originally homesteaded by my great-great grandfather. In addition to our cattle, we also work some crop ground on the ranch to help feed the cattle.
The ranch is located in the Pine Ridge Mule Deer Conservation Area (MDCA), so mule deer hunters need to draw a tag. Reach out to us with an inquiry if you have a tag, and we can see if we can get you out here for a hunt!
Hunters looking to stay on the ranch overnight can camp or RV; however, we are also located only about 20 minutes from Chadron, which has some local lodging options, a Holiday Inn, and a Best Western.

While visiting with Justin, we saw antelope out and about. Deadhorse creek looks to be a solid travel corridor for both deer and turkey running through their place. I observed decent cover along the creek with good food sources and water. Justin has a great setup for anyone trying to get after a whitetail, antelope, or turkey.
