Mill Creek Ranch
Welcome to Southwest Montana's famous Paradise Valley!
Our family has lived and ranched this land since the late 1940s. Despite the changes to the valley, and Montana in general, that we've witnessed as the years have passed, our ranch is still a picture of the classic Montana cowboy operation.
Our ranching operation is built on a profound sense of stewardship, gratitude, and a commitment to leave the land better than we found it in hopes that future generations of our family can continue to live in this breathtaking place.
The ranch consists of 940 acres in the lowland foothills of the Absaroka's, the mountain range that makes up the eastern part of Paradise Valley. The acreage is comprised of rangeland pasture and hayfields with ag pivots. The Elbow Creek runs through the property, while the Mill Creek makes up the Western boundary of the ranch en route to the Yellowstone River.
The ranch should be an excellent destination for hunters with a general tag this season. Whitetail hunters especially should have success finding bucks along the creekbottoms. It's not uncommon to see elk and mule deer cruising from the mountain foothills into our fields as well.
We are open to guests camping or RVing on the property, whether you're enjoying the ranch's recreation opportunities or simply looking for a secluded area to stay reasonably close to the Park.
We are located just under 45 minutes from the Roosevelt Arch, which marks the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. We are located about 20 miles from Livingston/Interstate 90 and about 45 miles from the Bozeman area.
Note: This is a working ranch. Our children and grandchildren also live with us out on the ranch, so you may encounter people during your visit. We will do our best to stay out of your way, and we won't be recreating when you are, but you may see us around.

During my visit, I saw a few whitetails running through the Elbow creekbottom. Didn't see anything else while out there, but it was mid-afternoon and warm out. That said, Jim informed me that bear, elk, mule deer, waterfowl, and upland birds can all be found on the property!

Had a great time. Beautiful plot of land. Filled two deer tags. The elk didn’t come down onto the property, think the temperatures were a little too warm. Saw hundreds up on the mountain behind the property but didn’t make their way down off the mountain side. Will definitely be back. Jim and Betsy were very friendly and accomadating.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2024 Great property, I saw lots of deer and Jim was always responsive. I was hunting for a cow elk and did not see any on the property but they were close by.

Outstanding property with amazing views and high density of deer. Jim was a great host and gave us tips of where we should go since the moment we arrived to his ranch. We had a great day and saw 3 mature bucks during our hunt (2 whitetails and a mule deer) rutting after muley does. The property has it all. Fields, a river winding throughout and a robust stand of pines that holds a high density of wildlife. We also saw a herd of Elk on the foothills of the mountain and a band of rams above the ranch. Truly a wonderful ranch.

Jim and Betsy, we had a great hunt, 4 hunters, 4 deer. This was the first year I had been drawn for a buck, and I harvested a 3x2. We got lucky and the wind was blowing hard with a rain snow mix. We are definitely looking to book this property again in the future. I personally saw four different bucks. Thank you for having us.
Reviewed by Guest on November 2024 The property has good ground cover and trees. Also, good water to support all wildlife. We were there for birds and didn't see any but encountered many deer. We walked entire property. Much of property is used to support cows.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2024There were plenty of ducks and some geese on the pond early in the day. There are several good setup locations. The pond was algae-free in early October. Nice spot to hunt for a few hours.

Jim and Betsy are great! We saw a ton of deer and my son was able to harvest his first buck. We will definitely be going back!
Reviewed by Guest on October 2024 Was a great day. Weather was good and Jim welcomed me to his property upon arrival. Shared what’s been happening as far as game movement. Ended up with a large doe and he had someone give me a hand. Herds are healthy and this is my favorite spot in the Valley.

Reviewed by Guest on November 2023 This property was amazing. After not seeing any deer or elk on public I took a shot and booked this ranch. I hunted this ranch two days. Saw no less than 6 bucks and too many doe to count. I ended up taking a decent 3x3 whitetail buck. Jim and Betsy were amazing hosts and answered all of my questions. This place is definitely worth a visit! I hope to be back!
Reviewed by Guest on November 2023Jim & Betsy are amazing landowners. They are so welcoming and supportive, they truly want you to have the best experience while you're there. The property is gorgeous and holds a very healthy population of deer. We saw at least 6 bucks and far too many does to count. We were both successful and enjoyed our time greatly. Can't wait to come back next year, thank you Jim & Betsy!!!

We met Jim up at his house prior to fishing in Mill Creek on his property. We really enjoyed our time talking with Jim. He’s a first class person. Their property is stunning. Jim gave us the run of the place. Didn’t see another person the entire time we fished. Awesome. Fished Mill Creek from the top of their property. Didn’t slay the trout, but did ok. They have some really nice water with deep pools. We will return & look forward to visiting with Jim again. He made us feel right at home.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2023 Such a beautiful property and great landowners! We camped right next to Mill Creek where we caught fish and my daughters did some swimming. It’s also only a few minutes from Chico Hot Springs where we had a fun afternoon. I’m excited to visit again during hunting season!
