Ogren Ranch
We are a 4th generation family-run Montana ranch that operates 65 miles east of Billings on the banks of the iconic Yellowstone River. Located on the historical site of Fort Pease, our ranch is steeped in tradition and legacy that is rooted in a deep passion for the health of the land, the livestock, and the lives that are directly and indirectly affected by our stewardship.
We currently outfit for all hunting, except prairie dogs. Fishing and other recreation is also available.
When we really get down to the most fundamental aspect of our business, our livelihood depends on the land’s ability to capture sunlight through the growth of plants and convert that energy into pounds of beef. Because of this truth, we have continuously endeavored to improve our management to help our soil, plants, and animals thrive. Some of the things we have implemented to accomplish this are management intensive rotational grazing (MIG), calving on green grass, planting and grazing cover crops on irrigated farm ground, diverse crop rotations, and continuously monitoring the outcomes of our practices so that we can make adjustments that take us towards our goals. As iron sharpens iron, we are always learning from friends, mentors, and looking for ways to improve our land, our livestock, and our community!

The view on the property are fantastic, especially down along the river. As we drove around I could hear the prairie dogs chirping long before I saw them. This historical location is a great place to spend your time.
