This package is a flat $5625 per group for the duration of Colorado's 4th Rifle Season. Lodging in the on-site cabin is included and can sleep 4 hunters.
We've leased and managed this 648-acre property in Colorado’s GMU 80 since 1998, using it as a basecamp for elk, deer, and pronghorn camps. The ground sits on a migratory corridor from the wildlife refuge on the Valley floor, which pulls elk and mule deer through the property as seasons change. Terrain runs from open grassland and pasture through timbered slopes, wooded draws, and mountain country, with panoramic views of the San Luis Valley spread out below. The western boundary borders BLM with additional access into the Rio Grande National Forest, extending the reachable elk country well beyond the deeded acres for hunters willing to put in the miles on foot.
We are about 30 minutes from Monte Vista and 45 minutes from Alamosa. Nearest interstate access is Walsenburg (I-25) about 2 hours from the property.
In nearly 30 years on this property, we've taken numerous elk, mule deer, and pronghorn and have hosted groups from across the country. The approach is DIY all the way: we provide access to the land, the cabin, water, and heat, and you plan and run your own hunt. Elk, mule deer, antelope, coyote, and black bear are all present. Mountain lion have been observed on the property on occasion as well.
On-site lodging is available in our solar-powered, off-grid cabin with two sets of twin beds, a full kitchen, running water, heat, and indoor plumbing with a shower. There's cell service and wifi at the cabin as well. We haul water for guests, so we ask for communication ahead of arrival to confirm you'll have what you need. We prefer to meet guests offsite and guide you in, both to walk through the access points and get you oriented before heading out.
Access across the ground is by two-track roads. ATVs and UTVs are permitted for game retrieval, and we're open to working with guests who have mobility-related needs, though the terrain is moderately rugged throughout. Cell service is generally available. Fire restrictions follow local government guidelines and vary by conditions, so we'll communicate current status at check-in.
