Property Features

Food: Agriculture and Meadows

It is common to flush Sharp-tailed Grouse and we have several active leks in the spring. You can hear and see pheasants in almost every draw. During hard winters we often put out grain to help bird survival.

Water: Creeks, Streams, Lakes, Springs, Ponds, and Livestock Tanks

Lodge Grass Creek flows through the property as does Alligator Creek and several large draws; there are reservoirs and springs, and seeps from livestock water provide additional water.

Shelter: Hills, Grasslands, Brush, Woods, and Draws

This country has lots of brushy draws and rough terrain, which provide good shelter for wildlife. There are a lot of Ash and Box Elder trees, and these are used for nesting by Red-tailed Hawks and Magpies. Prairie dog towns provide some food source for raptors. We see bald eagles in the winter.
