Whitetail Huntat The Forest @ Misquah Hills
Hunters are invited to take the beautiful drive up Highway 61 to our property to hunt whitetails.
Dense timber, hills, and draws make up our habitat.
We are located in deer permit area 126.
Archery: Sept. 16 - Dec. 31
Youth: Oct. 19 - 22
Early Antlerless: N/A
Firearm A: Nov. 4 - 19
Firearm B: N/A
Muzzleloader: Nov. 25 - Dec. 10
Each of our three parcels are accessible from various camp roads. Despite the distance from our northernmost and southernmost parcel being only 8 miles as the crow flies, this area's terrain and winding roadways can make travel take a little longer. The drive is about 40 minutes and 22 miles. We do have a 25-acre parcel included which is located on Tom Lake and adds another 10-15 minutes and two-ish miles of travel.
To fully experience the property, we'd recommend booking two or more days to give you the time you need to travel to and explore each parcel without a deadline. Cell phone coverage is limited. We only get one bar with AT&T. We also carry satellite phones. Become familiar with GPS apps on your phone. Even though it's easier to see through the woods when the leaves have fallen, and you can follow your own tracks back out in the snow, we strongly recommend using GPS.
Eastern Cook County community is respectful of its indigenous Anishinaabe (see more: https://www.anishinabek.ca/who-we-are-and-what-we-do/) roots as well as Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources regulations as can be researched here: https://www.fws.gov/partner/minnesota-department-natural-resources. We, as land owners, respect these and encourage our clients to respect them also.
Below is a breakdown of what you may find on each of our three parcels. You are encouraged to explore all of them as you wish. We have a "Leave No Trace" and "Pack It In - Pack It Out" policy. No fires are allowed on the ground. Grills and camp stoves are fine.
Irish Creek Parcel
This parcel is 125 acres and borders over 950 acres of Grand Portage State Forest Lands. The Irish Creek runs through this State Forest, providing swampy wetlands and edges that run through a portion of this parcel.
Tom Lake Parcel
This parcel is 25 acres and is fairly flat. Some hunting potential as you work your way deeper into the property from the road/lake. Would make a good camp spot or RV site (no hookups) for multi-day bookings with us.
Hovland Parcel
This parcel is about 78 acres and is about a 10-minute drive from Hovland. The property has slightly varied elevations throughout. No water sources make this parcel more a source of cover for our wildlife populations.

My interest in Northern Minnesota, particularily BWCA, goes back to the 1960s. Buying land there has allowed me to enjoy it in my older years. I am an avid photographer and the woods are full of amazing things to photograph. My wife and I enjoy walks on the trails and listening to the different birds as well as collecting mushrooms and sheds.
