Upper Birch Creek Ranch provides a premier Montana backcountry experience. Rugged and remote, yet accessible, it's bordered by public lands on one side, and large, private landowners on the other. With 3/4 of a mile of Upper Birch Creek running through the property, almost 1400' of elevation relief, timber stands, and a ridge-top meadow, it offers a bit of everything you could want for your private adventure.

The Woods Creek Fire swept through much of the property in 2021, but in the spring of 2022, the entire burned area was reseeded with Orchard Grass and Red Clover, essentially creating a 1000 acre feed-plot that big game loves.

Chris and his son were wonderful guests, and I really enjoyed getting to meet them and have them out. I wish the weather and elk had cooperated a bit better, but unfortunately that's the way it goes sometimes. I wouldn't hesitate at all to host them again in the future!

This was my first hunt booked through Landtrust and my experience from start to finish was great! The booking experience was smooth with good communication from the landowner and landtrust. The land owner kept me updated ahead of the trip and gave me clear instructions, starting points and advice on the property. We brought our 5th wheel RV to camp. The road in was a long ways off of the pavement but we had no trouble getting in. The landowner had the 2 quietkat e-bikes charged and ready for us which were a game changer for getting up the mountain. I almost filled my tag on morning one in the first few minutes on a nice bull but it was just too dark. After that we heard or saw elk every day. The elk started showing signs of rutting half way through my trip. I called in two nice bulls (280-300) to within 30 yards with no shot and had an encounter with a 340 type bull on my second to last day. On the last morning I called in a 300 type bull to 25yrds and deflected a arrow off a limb missing him. The burned timber makes you have to really pay attention to shooting lanes. The property was great with good additional public access. Physically I would say the terrain is moderate but not particularly rough. I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to connect but it wasn't for lack of opportunity. All in all I couldn't have asked for more from the experience and will be booking again.

Zach and his family were wonderful guests. They took great care of the place, and were super respectful. I was happy they found elk almost every day, and seemed to enjoy their trip immensely. He and Mary were great to talk with, and I loved seeing their 3 mo old daughter out enjoying the place as well.

Fantastic communication throughout the process and good land. Weather dealt us a bad hand but we did see game. Would book again with Spencer.

It was great to meet David and Cody and welcome them to Montana. Unfortunately, the weather didn't play very nicely, so it was a tough hunt, but David was responsive, respectful, and understanding throughout our interactions. I would gladly welcome he and Cody back in the future!

Great hunting experience! The host was very responsive and accommodating. The orchard grass is coming in beautifully and has created a very “Elk-y” environment. I have hunted public land the past 3 years with opportunities blown by other hunters. Finally, this year, I was able to connect with an awesome 5x5 to put some meat on the table! The cost of having an entire ranch to yourself is definitely worth it.

Casey is everything a property owner wants from a guest: courteous, easy-going, and respectful of the place. He cleaned up after himself extremely well, and left the place better than he found it. I was extremely excited to hear he was successful in harvesting his first MT Bull (a nice mature 5-point) and had a prime hunting experience. I hope he draws a tag again next year, and can come out for more adventures!
