Situated on the western edge of the state, bordering Nebraska, this extensive zone stretches from Sioux City in the north down to the southern state line. It supports a healthy population of turkeys. The landscape mainly consists of privately owned farmland, interspersed with large stands of mature hardwoods, and includes a variety of creeks, rivers, reservoirs, and swamps. While turkey habitats are widespread, prime spots to explore first include crop fields and regions near water sources, such as creek and riverbanks.
