Located in the far northeastern corner of the state, Unit E1E offers a remarkable hunting experience. With abundant public land and prime elk habitat, it’s an ideal location for do-it-yourself hunters. The Pembina River, which flows in from Canada, enhances the area's elk habitat significantly. The terrain varies, with elevations ranging from around 1,500 feet to 1,000 feet in the river bottom before rising again, creating a mix of rugged terrain and forested areas. While public access is limited and much of the land is private farmland, hunters fortunate enough to secure a tag may want to reach out to local landowners for additional opportunities.
