33 Ranch
The 33 Ranch is a generations old family cattle operation in the South Dakota badlands. Our great grandfather, Cleve, named it the 33 Ranch after the number of cattle and horses he started the place with in 1914. Intact native rangelands cover the whole ranch with great wildlife and plant diversity. We currently raise angus pairs and run yearlings. The livestock management is focused on leaving grass after grazing and providing ample rest and recovery for each pasture grazed.
About half the ranch is made up of dramatic badland features-- much of it looks like the badlands national park (the ranch is about an hour from the park). The ranch offers endless opportunities for outdoorsmen, hikers, and photographers to drink in great sweeping grasslands and towering badland features.
We have a finished cabin with a kitchen, bathroom, one bedroom and one futon. Next to the cabin is a camper pad with full hookups. The cabin and camper pad have a great view of a big ponderosa and badland covered plateau called Cedar Butte. Guests can walk from the cabin to Cedar Butte for some solid hiking and badland exploring among towering ponderosa pines. The cabin is a short distance from a small but deep dam stocked with bass.
