Brook Hollow Homestead
Enjoy 115 acres of upstate NY forest. The property consists of a mixture of upland hardwoods (mainly Oak, Maple and Cherry) with scattered stands of Red Pine, White Spruce, Hemlock and two open fields/pastures. There are also the occasional conifers scattered about just to keep things interesting. The majority of the property is gently sloping from the South up towards the North. The is also a nice ridge on the NE corner of the property to aid in topographic diversity. One of the fields is a seven acre hay field and the other is a five acre food plot planted in clover, chicory and other grasses. This field has also been recently planted with Apples, Pear, American Plum, Red Osier Dogwood, Persimmon, Red Mulberry, Chinese Chestnut, and Hazelnuts. These are all young at this time but will start to provide diversity and wildlife interest in the coming years. The property also has a 100 yard shooting range, five pre-set tree stands and two enclosed and heated box blinds. Definitely a beautiful and wildly diverse piece of land to be use for multiple purposes.

I had a great experience at this property! It’s beautifully covered with mature deciduous trees and spruce, providing an excellent opportunity for hunting. Todd was incredibly friendly and helpful, making the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good hunting spot with a welcoming host.

I have started turkey hunting about in Spring 2024, so a total newcomer. Took a NWTF online training course and absorbed as much YouTube tutorial content as my brain could process. Then took all my theoretical knowledge to the field and spent the entire month of May chasing after gobblers on public land. I probably went hunting 15 times or more. The best I ever got to is a gobbler that stayed engaged with me for 20-25 minutes until a mountain biker with a dog showed up, and that was the end of my hunt. Turkey on public land is a tough business. I found Todd's property by chance. Googled what are the best places in New York to hunt turkeys in spring. Todd's property was third or forth on the list. I contacted all landowners. Todd is the only one that ever got back to me. This is how I ended up at Brook Hollow. We camped for a couple nights and hunted for a few days. My buddy scored his first Fall turkey and me and my 12 year old got our FIRST turkey ever. It was awesome. Todd is a great host. Very accommodating and extremely helpful. He and his wife kept an eye on the local flocks and texted us in real time where we could possibly find them. It is like having two pairs of extra eyes helping out. It was so great. We crisscrossed Todd's property left and right. I think I know all the trails there by now. A wonderful couple of wilderness camp sites in the north and a luxury camping with electricity and water in the south. Very comfortable and wonderful experience. I am thinking about possibly visiting Todd again for deer and very much like to come back in Spring after a gobbler or two. We had such a great time.

This was a great property with a great host. All throughout the property we were seeing deer. I would definitely recommend to others.
Reviewed by Guest on November 2024Logan and his party were the model of what a host is looking for. He asked questions before his arrival to insure a positive experience. While onsite they respected our rules and regulations. After his experience, he provided positive feedback that will make the experiences of future guests that much better. Logan and the rest of his party are welcome back at any time.

Todd was a great host and easy to communicate with. This property has everything you could possibly want, from outhouses to well placed stands, even heated box blinds. Wildlife was plentiful, ranging from turkey to whitetail deer (some very nice bucks). Oneonta is only a 13 minute car ride, so there’s major stores nearby if you need anything. I really liked, the easy access trail system and how well thought out everything was. I will definitely be coming back.

I have been addicted to the outdoors since I was a pre-teen. Scouting cemented my love of the Forest and the woods. I achieved a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry and I am applying that knowledge to our three generation homestead. Come and enjoy all that it has to offer and I am sure you will return.
