Cold River Cattle Co.
Situated on the border of New Hampshire and Maine, Cold River Cattle Co. is a fourth-generation working farm that seamlessly blends agricultural heritage with great hunting. This historic property has been an Angus cattle operation for the past five years after over 70 years in dairy production.
The property's habitat features both the Cold River and the Colton Brook, providing year-round water sources. These waterways, particularly the Cold River, are renowned as a blue ribbon fishery, offering exceptional brook and native trout fishing opportunities. The river and creek bottoms, combined with established hardwoods and natural brush, create perfect corridors and bedding areas for turkeys and bear.
Food sources are abundant and varied, with working hay fields, corn crops, and lush pasture supporting both our cattle and the wildlife in the area. This mixture of agricultural activity and natural habitat has created particularly strong conditions for turkey hunting, with the property boasting an outstanding turkey population... they are EVERYWHERE! The land also supports healthy populations of bear and woodcock.
The farm is located in Maine's Wildlife Management District 15 - Oxford County Foothills.
For visiting hunters looking for lodging, the Kimball Getaway is available as an optional add-on to your hunt for $190/night. It's conveniently located just 15 minutes from the property, offering comfortable accommodations for both short and extended stays, along with fishing opportunities on the lake and beautiful views! It's technically a by water so can fish with Maine or NH license. Out town posted the boat launch to parking but if people wanted to bass fish it has great fishing. Can unload and then park at my camp. It's 200 yards from the ramp
We ask that you book a minimum of two nights in the cabin.
More Details on the Cabin:
Small cabin with direct waterfront. The living area has a small kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, coffee maker - no kitchen sink but there is a bathroom sink), as well as couches and a dining area. Bedroom sleeps two with private deck facing the water. Interior bathroom has a toilet and sink, and an outdoor shower can be found following a path to the back of the camp (with hot water). Air conditioner located next to fireplace. Cabin comes with a fire pit, picnic table, grill and black stone skillet. The lake is technically a by-water so you can fish with a Maine or New Hampshire license. The lake has great bass fishing. Cabin is just over 200 yards from the public boat ramp. Motor boats are allowed on the lake. Located in a great community, very quiet and private compared to larger lakes.
The farm continues its agricultural traditions with hay production alongside its cattle operation, maintaining the working landscape that has characterized this valley for generations. The dual focus on agriculture and wildlife management has created a unique hunting environment, and we look forward to sharing it with respectful sportsmen.
