Just north of Gothenburg in Custer County, Cool Ranch offers 3,400 acres of working Nebraska ranchland with excellent habitat and opportunity for a variety of hunts. This sixth-generation cow-calf and hay operation blends agricultural ground with open terrain, featuring irrigated and dryland hay fields, scattered tree strips, loam and clay canyons, and wide-open pasture. Multiple livestock tanks and ponds provide consistent water sources across the landscape, keeping game active and moving throughout the property.

The rolling hills and grassy draws make our ranch a strong option for archery and muzzleloader mule deer hunters looking to glass and stalk. The ranch is part of Nebraska's Buffalo unit for Deer. 

While whitetails are less prevalent, hunters may catch them using tree-lined pockets and coulees as bedding and travel corridors. Turkeys are drawn to the combination of forage, water, and roost trees, offering solid spring and fall hunting opportunities. Dove activity can be productive around the water tanks and ponds, and predator hunters will appreciate the chance to target coyotes in the more remote corners of the ranch. Bobcats and raccoons are also available.

Tent camping is allowed on-site, and while there are no hookups for RVs, hunters are welcome to bring a generator. 

With its quiet, open skies and low light pollution, Cool Ranch also offers peaceful stargazing and birdwatching for those looking to unwind after the hunt. Access is straightforward, just 30 minutes from Gothenburg and I-80, and about an hour from both Kearney and North Platte.
