Davis County Hunting | Chequest Creek
We are proud to be a 1st-generation ranching family in Southeast Iowa, just a few miles outside the town of Bloomfield. We operate the ranch using rotational grazing practices and an emphasis on stewarding our native grasses. Two natural by-products of our ranching practices are a scenic landscape and a thriving wildlife population.
With a mixture of grasslands, row crop, and timbered creekbottom, the ranch is a solid destination for hunters. This part of the state, Iowa's Zone 6, is known for big bucks, and our ranch is no different. We also have good numbers of Eastern turkeys in large part due to our habitat along the South Chequest Creek and nearby food sources. Migratory birds, like doves and geese are also prevalent, due to the water sources we have on the ranch.
These water sources, ponds and a lake, also make for excellent private fishing opportunities for Crappie, Bluegill, and Largemouth Bass. Fishing is included with your hunt if you want to drop a line in during the day!
If folks are interested in staying overnight on the ranch, we have a cabin that can sleep up to 4 guests, with a pair of double cots. Bloomfield is only about 15 minutes away if guests would prefer to stay in a local hotel.

We bumped some doves during my visit. Walking the property with Adam, I also observed plenty of shelter, food, and water, to keep big bucks and other wildlife around. Nice little cabin available as well.
