Willy was awesome, but the deer did not cooperate. There was heavy acorn crop in the mountains and the deer reacted as expected. We didn't see any deer in any of the soybean fields during the 20min drive from the property to the air bnb. While we were scouting we saw 5-6 doe around the entire property. There's a bunch of sign throughout the property, and it has everything a property needs to have high deer population, we just weren't seeing them. We also had 3 cell cams spread throughout and just weren't seeing deer hit the cams much. That all sounds negative, but I genuinely don't mean it to be. Willy was an awesome host, and very accommodating. This seems like a property that would be very busy during the rut given the land features, terrain, bedding, and abundance of food. We had a great trip, just didn’t get the deer cooperation we hoped for. One of the guys in our group was able to connect on a doe up in the mountains off the fields.
