Farver Farms Expeditions
In 1926, Terry’s Great-Grandfather on his mother’s side, C.K. Hanson, purchased the homestead and part of the farm where we live now. Since then, his family has been growing grain and raising cattle here on the prairies of extreme Northeast Montana.
Combined with the heritage on his father’s side and their history back to the late 30’s in the area, his roots here run deep. We’re happy to be able to share that history and heritage through our social media channels, our blog, and now our property through LandTrust.
Rural takes on a whole new meaning here and ups the difficulty level a notch or two. The population in our county is 1,200. We're homesteading in Montana in an area 14 miles to the Canadian border and 45 miles East or South of any other town of any size. Our area was even officially designated by the Washington Post as 'The Middle of Nowhere'! In fact, Scobey, the town closest to us, was listed as #2 on the list of most remote places in the US. The neighboring towns of Glasgow and Wolf Point round out the Top Three list of the most remote towns in the country.
Part of the famed Outlaw Trail, which was used as an escape route for turn-of-the-century gunslingers and outlaws from Canada to Mexico, runs through the Farm.
And... the weather creates its own set of challenges too. We can see 100°F above zero in the summer, & 50°F below zero in the Winter. Both of those extremes mean extra care for the livestock as well as buildings, equipment, & crops.
If you're looking for adventure,...getting to this remote place on the vast Montana prairie is half the fun. Once you're here, we have hunting, fishing, and farm experiences available for interested guests seeking exclusive access to our treasured piece of Montana!

Farver Farms is an upland bird hunters paradise. On the upper section there is a mixture of various ag plots that the birds love, and the deer frequent. On the lower portion of the property the Poplar River splits the grazing pasture and offers recreators the opportunity to see big game, upland birds, and waterfowl.

5.0Our Family had a great time hunting Farver Farms. Even with the drought, there was still areas with good cover that held birds. The birds are pretty wild later in the season but we still did well on our hunt. Shawna and Terry were terrific hosts and guided us thru how to access different parts of the property. We thank them for the privilege of hunting their land and hope to hunt their again. Thanks Mike

Reviewed by Guest on November 2022Mike was a pleasure to have on the farm! He was respectful of our access rules, including restrictions to two track and county roads with his ATV. Mike stayed in touch to let us know what area he would be hunting during the day. He also let us know when he was leaving, the hunting conditions he encountered, game populations he witnessed, and animals harvested. We’re looking forward to hosting Mike again!
