Duck are very common on the "drain ditch," which is on the western portion of the property, draining toward the NE. Choose your approach carefully and be ready, as it's a long straight waterway so they will see you coming if you walk right up to it. A couple of habitual wet spots to the N of the drain ditch also attract ducks. Geese locations vary, but they are most commonly seen in the fields around the drain ditch (usually the fields nearer to HWY 10, on the western portion of the property). Good luck!

Please no hunting on the creekbottom. All waterfowl hunting is limited to the canals and hayfields.

Access to certain fields may be limited due to cattle location. The Drain Ditch and select fields will be available, but it may not be the full acreage.

Bird Dogs are being allowed this year, but please keep them out of any livestock that may be in the area. Livestock will generally keep to themselves and are generally docile, so just keep dogs at a distance.

Agriculture and Natural Forage

Irrigated hayfields. We are on Upper Deer Creek, which proves true to its name.

Creeks

Upper Deer Creek, plus irrigation canals/drain ditch. The "drain ditch" is the primary location for waterfowl hunting; good duck population and it stays open year-round. Upper Deer Creek is also flows year-round at our property, so it attracts deer, etc. Due to proximity to houses/buildings/livestock, Upper Deer Creek is not open for waterfowl hunting, but ok for deer bow hunting.

Bio

We're the Sanders family - Dan, Tami and our three growing kids! Dan and Tami both grew up on ranches near Big Timber, Montana. We got married and spent the next 18 years traveling the USA and the world as a military family. I stayed home with the kids, Dan protected our nation flying F-16's. We knew when he "retired" from his first career that we wanted to come back to Montana to raise sheep and cattle.

So why Flying 7? Dan flew F-16's for 19 of his 21 years in the Air Force/Air National Guard. The flying world has been a big part of our journey. Seven represents the 7 most important things we value: God, our Family of 5, and our Country. That's what shapes our decisions and drives us to bring the highest quality meats to your table.

So there it is; a busy Family of 5, honoring and serving God while living in this great Country we call America - it all adds up to the Flying 7 Ranch - working to make the world and your dinner plate a little bit better.
