Flying 7 Ranch
The Flying 7 Ranch is a regenerative ranching operation raising cattle and sheep, located between Big Timber and Greycliff. With ranching families originally from the Big Timber area, we've come back to Montana after 20+ years of military service. Fast forward a few years, and we've built an operation founded on regenerative ag principles and a genuine care for the ecosystem: the soil, the land, and the water. We follow nature's lead and work to preserve these resources and make it all a little better than we found it.
We are located one hour from Bozeman via I-90 eastbound and one hour and eight minutes from Billings via I-90 westbound. We feel it's important to communicate that because of our proximity to the interstate, the ranch may not feel like the most secluded place.
The ranch, about 465 acres, features an expanse of irrigated hayfields, which is a food source for all types of wildlife. We have irrigation canals and a drain ditch that stay open all year, perfect for waterfowl. There's a portion of timber creekbottom along the Upper Deer Creek which runs through the ranch; however deer hunters will probably have the best chance of success hunting the hayfields. We'll be offering archery only hunts for whitetail; however, shotguns are permitted for waterfowl hunts.
While we expect hunters to have a reasonable chance of success, we have an opportunity for folks to leave the ranch with guaranteed meat in the freezer. Check out our website to shop for grass-fed lamb and pasture-raised beef: Flying 7 Ranch Shop
We look forward to hosting folks!

Had a great time driving around the property with Dan. We saw three flocks of turkeys, a half-dozen whitetail, and about 20+ ducks on the canals. Property is easily accessible.

We're the Sanders family - Dan, Tami and our three growing kids! Dan and Tami both grew up on ranches near Big Timber, Montana. We got married and spent the next 18 years traveling the USA and the world as a military family. I stayed home with the kids, Dan protected our nation flying F-16's. We knew when he "retired" from his first career that we wanted to come back to Montana to raise sheep and cattle.
So why Flying 7? Dan flew F-16's for 19 of his 21 years in the Air Force/Air National Guard. The flying world has been a big part of our journey. Seven represents the 7 most important things we value: God, our Family of 5, and our Country. That's what shapes our decisions and drives us to bring the highest quality meats to your table.
So there it is; a busy Family of 5, honoring and serving God while living in this great Country we call America - it all adds up to the Flying 7 Ranch - working to make the world and your dinner plate a little bit better.
