Gold Mine Camp
Orr, Minnesota, United States
44 Acres
44 Acres of Private Hunting & Fishing in Minnesota’s Wilderness Borderlands
Located just outside Crane Lake, Minnesota, Gold Mine Camp offers a one-of-a-kind experience on the last 17 miles of the Vermilion River: a stretch of water rarely accessed and virtually untouched. The resort operates seasonally through summer, then transitions to a true wilderness hunting destination after October 1st when the camp closes down and the focus shifts to outdoor sportsmen.
Undoubtedly one of the finest smallmouth and Northern Pike fisheries in all of Minnesota. Gold Mine offers and easy of fishing unparalleled in the modern age. Walleyes, Crappies and other species are available, especially during key time periods.
Wildlife abounds here in greater numbers than anywhere else in Minnesota. Guests at Gold Mine can expect to see moose, deer, bear, beaver, otter, as well as the majestic birds; eagles, osprey, loons, etcetera. Don’t forget your camera – the scenery and wildlife is simply awesome.
Should a fisherman prefer smaller, more tranquil waters, the Vermilion River has no equal. The Vermilion is a deep, slow moving, calm and tranquil fishery. Protected from the elements such as wind and white caps, it allows the fisherman to view a scenic wonderland while pursuing his favorite sport.
Behind the main camp lies a 44-acre parcel of private timberland, including a secluded 40-acre tract tucked against the Canadian border wilderness. This back parcel is uninhabited and surrounded by millions of acres of public land with limited access, making it a rare low-pressure hunting opportunity. Whitetail deer and ruffed grouse move through the thick forest cover, while the Vermilion River forms the north boundary of the main camp property, offering early-season duck hunting and world-class fishing right from shore.
Whether you're chasing grouse through the woods, sitting for deer on the edge of Superior National Forest, or casting for smallmouth bass and walleye in waters shared only with eagles and otters, this is a truly remote Northwoods experience. Lodging is available in rustic cabins before October 1st, with guided trips and full fishing support during the summer season. After October, Gold Mine transforms into a quiet, backcountry hunting basecamp with no interruptions and unmatched solitude.
We are located 2.5 hours from Duluth, and about 1.5 hours from International Falls (and the US-Canada border). Both of these cities have International Airports for folks flying in. The town of ORR is located about 40 minutes from the property, offering local amenities like gas, food, and lodging. There's a highly rated RV park, Headquarters RV Park, about 20 minutes from us if you're looking for a place to park an RV with full hookups.
With nearly zero outside pressure, a private launch, and vast adjacent public land, Gold Mine Camp is the gateway to a sportsman’s wilderness that few ever access.
