Golden Prairie Bison
We are excited to share our ranch's 3,000 acres with you!
Our ranch is located just over five miles northeast of Valentine on the Dakota Nebraska Eroded Tableland and stands very close to the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge and the Niobrara Scenic River. Our ranch encompasses various terrain such as canyons, prairies, riparian areas, farm ground, and pasture, where our cattle and bison roam. But they aren't the only animals that call the ranch home! We have observed an abundant wildlife population including whitetail and mule deer, elk, muskrat, bobcat, mountain lion, beaver, and porcupine. Bird sightings include bald eagles, golden eagles, burrowing owls, sharptail grouse, prairie chicken, neotropical migrants, swans, pelicans, ducks, geese, and more. Our ranch also provides habitat for the endangered American Burying Beetle and the Black-Footed Ferret.
Our land is secluded and offers opportunities for dark sky viewing. Guests will enjoy this peaceful, beautiful location, whether they want to watch the wildlife, gaze at the stars, or just enjoy a scenic afternoon.
The ranch itself is operated by Carl and Victoria and has been owned by their family since it was originally homesteaded by Carl's Grandma in 1914. Carl and Victoria's mission at Golden Prairie Bison is to "steward the land and conserve it for generations to come." Their commitment to this mission is evident in their love for working the land and caring for the animals that call it home. In their own words, "We love working on the Great Plains and hope we can share a little bit of this unique and incredibly important place with you!"

Carl and Vicky take great pride in raising these bison on their property. There are definitely some healthy animals in this herd that would be worth harvesting.
