Welcome to our Farm. At Hasselstrom Farms, we strive to raise healthy animals for your family’s dinner table. Nutrient-rich protein grown in Winchester, Idaho on our dryland farm. Our animals graze timber pasture, cover crops and field crop residues to create a flavorful meat that you will enjoy. Our animals open-range graze 95% of the year. Lambs are finished on our own farm-raised Barley and Oats.

Thank you for visiting!

At Hasselstrom Farms, we have been in no-till practice for 30 years. Focusing on soil health and plant nutrition, we found that the sheep contribute to our soil microbiome and provide weed control without the use of herbicides. The sheep are rotationally grazed around our farm and timber to provide a balanced diet for the lambs and ewes and provide, vegetation control, wildfire protection and crop residue/soil incorporation. Just this year, we have removed all synthetic fertilizer from our Wheat, Pea, Mustard, Oats and Barley production, focusing on carbon sequestration and improved nutrient-dense crops.

The Farm

Hasselstrom Farms is perched on the edge of the Camas Prairie between the Salmon and Clearwater Rivers. Winchester was once a booming logging and mill community, harvesting some of the largest yellow pine in Idaho and is now where some of the finest Barley, Wheat and Grass Hay are grown. The cutover timber soil of the Winchester area, grows nutrient-rich grasses and forbes that our sheep thrive on in the summer. By grazing the timber pastures along with rotational cover crops on our farm ground, you will find our American White Face lamb some of the mildest, yet most flavorful lamb you have tried.

Eric and Sheila, with their 3 kids, Kameron, Hunter, and Koleen, farm and once raised cattle on this ground. As the kids transitioned out of the house, Eric and Sheila transitioned into Sheep.

Our Sheep

With a family background in the wooly ovine, Sheila and her daughter started with 50 sheep. Now the farm supports 700 breeding ewes. In the summer months with lambs at their mothers' side, the numbers push to 1,700, hungry, quick-stepping, bustling woolies.

The Rambouillet ewes are sheared before lambing time each year. The wool is a fine wool that is sold to Pendleton Woolen Mill for use in their famed Pendleton Wool Shirts. The lambs are marketed in the fall. Replacement ewe lambs are chosen for the next breeding year and a handful of weathers are put on feed to fatten and bring directly to you and your family.

Lamb is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and high-quality proteins, lamb can be an excellent component of a healthy diet

Eric and Shelia were PHENOMENAL hosts!!! They have the turkeys, no doubt about it!!! Eric took the time to show me all of their property, which is a lot! They were always available if I had a question and gave me great recommendations on where I should hunt. I was lucky enough to punch one tag this year. I cant wait to see them again next turkey season.

There is a lot of property to hunt with some great areas to hold deer, elk and turkeys, we hunted the rut for deer, but did not catch up to the big bucks we were looking for. Eric was great.

My son and I had a great whitetail hunt on Eric’s property. My son harvested a very old mature buck. I had a failed attempt at another very large buck one of his does busted me before I could take a shot. Very large beautiful property. Lots of prime habitat for deer. I personally saw probably 30 or so mostly does and small to medium size bucks. Don’t kid yourself that it’s going to be a slam dunk you will need to put the time in sunrise to sunset. Unfortunately we never got a chance to meet Eric his brother Ryan did meet us and got us squared away when we arrived. My son is taking about doing it again next year.

Eric and his wife were amazing and really great hosts. Eric showed us the property the day before our hunt and made great suggestions for places to eat and shop in town. Property was great as well. My daughter had a chance at a good buck the first morning but had a mishap with her scope. My son harvested a small buck and my daughter shot a doe on the last day. We all had a great time.

We had a great time camping at Eric & Sheila's beautiful farm! They showed us their land, shared how they've run their regenerative agriculture operations, and we even saw their sheep herd and sheep dogs! It's a beautiful, quiet place to set up an RV to camp and it's 2 minutes from Winchester where there are stores, gas, & a lake for fishing. We'll be back during hunting season!

Where to start? Eric at Hasselstrom farms was an incredible host with a truly gorgeous piece of property. He was more than helpful and showing us the lay of the land but also gave us plenty of space to operate during our hunt. The property was beautiful and provided a stunning backdrop for a very successful hunt. As far as game goes, it was everywhere. Every day we worked multiple groups of birds and were able to fill 3/4 tags over our trip. Thank you again Eric for sharing your property with us, we look forward to seeing you again next season!
