Memorial Day Weekend Annual Family Branding | Family of Fourat Hat Creek Cattle Co.
Adults and kids are invited to our annual family branding over Memorial Day weekend.
Branding will take place Friday, May 24th.
We are having the branding and meals on Friday the 24th, but we encourage you to come in on Thursday, so you can be here by 8:30 on Friday morning.
The cabin is located at Cheney Lake directly across from our property. Check in Thursday after 3 and checkout is Monday by 11 am.
There are lots of activites at Cheney Reservoir. Swimming, with beaches that are marked appropriately.
In the park there are 3 major trails to hike. Geifer Creek Nature Trail that is .33 miles and the difficulty is considered easy. Spring Creek Wildlife Observation Trail that is .25 and the difficulty is considered easy. West Side Trail which is 5 miles and the difficulty is considered moderate.
Wildlife and Bird watching is another activity: you might see turkey, deer, roadrunnners, scissor-tailed flycather, bald eagles, pelicans, gulls and armadillos while at the park.
If you like to fish, Cheney is known for wallleye, wipers, white bass, white perch channel catfish and blue catfish.
The Outpost at Cheney Lake directly across from the main entrance, has kayaks and canoes for rent, and they are a full service convenient store, resturant, bar and beer garden.
In Wichita you could visit the Cowtown Museum, Sedgwick County Zoo, Kansas Aviation Museum or the Hisorical Museum to name a few attractions. ( approximatley 30-40 miles)
Hutchinson offers The Cosmosphere "greatest space museum on earth" and the Strataca - underground salt museum which is also about 30 miles away.
The cost will be $1000.00 for the 1-day branding event, 3 meals on Friday and 4 nights in the cabin for the family of 4. Meals on Friday will be a easy/quick breakfast, hearty lunch and dry-aged steak kabobs with sides forsupper.
Linens, snacks, and bottled water will be provided at the cabin.
The Pelican is one-room cabin with a full-sized bed and set of bunk beds. It has a dormroom-sized refrigerator. microwave, toaster, and coffeepot, heating and air conditioning, and a bathroom with a shower. There is a charcoal grill provided outside and a fire ring. It comfortably sleeps 4.

This property west of Wichita has so much to offer! Very clean farmstead with great, heavily brushed corridors and perimeters with CRP for deer, turkey, and quail excursions. The branding experience will provide memories for a lifetime for families!

Landowner Rules: We will want to visit with you before you come to the branding event. We want you to be prepared and equipped. IE: Clothing, shoes, rain gear, etc. For hunting experiences, we would prefer to meet with you the evening before. We will take you to the property, and answer any questions, so the following day you know where to go, etc.

Our property is a multi-generational working farm and ranch. We primarily raise wheat, and feed/sedan for our cattle. We also operate a seed cleaning business and clean seed wheat.
We have two grown children that helped on the farm and were active in 4-H, sports and academics while in school. Our oldest daughter is married and lives on a farm about 45 miles away and has 2 little boys. She is a 4-H Extension agent, and her husband is an Ag Banker. Our youngest daughter lives in Colorado Springs and works for the PRCA as a Sponsorship Fulfillment Manager.
