Little Owl River Hunting Lodge
Little Owl River is a 2000-acre property that is apart of the Fox Hills Formation in western South Dakota. The land is made up of native prairie, farmland, rolling hills, deep draws, and 5 miles worth of a rare perennial stream that free flows year-round. The entirety of the farm was bought by my father in the 1950s after years of owning a piece of it.
While here, you will find the area is excellent for wildlife such as coyotes, bobcats, deer, pheasants, sharptail grouse, turkeys, prairie dogs, waterfowl, and more!
Cabin and RV/tent access are available in addition to the packages. If you decide to stay elsewhere, the towns Timber Lake and Isabel are a short drive away and provide needed amenities.

Greetings! I am Gene Springer. I was born on this ranch in 1960. My father had the property since 1945. He bought into the property with his mustering-out pay from WWII. I am a veteran of the Iraq War 2003/2004. The Springer family has managed the land since.
Wildlife has always been part of the management plan, through the years.
Various techniques are used to manage the property, for bison and other wildlife. Some of the techniques involve: controlled grazing; controlled burns; discing; spraying; mowing; and planting. The results are great, but it takes alot of time and resources to maintain quality habitat. The process is ongoing. ...you never really finish.
