Northwoods Refuge
Marquette, Michigan, United States
40 Acres
We have 40 acres of what was once a 220-acre dairy farm. The land is about 60% forest with a variety of other habitats including a few overgrown apple orchards, a cedar swamp, and many small clearings throughout. We've cut trails to access most of the land and have paid close attention to not only the birdife but also the abundant insects, plants, and mushrooms. There's a small creek running through the center of the property and some wetlands along the creek that concentrate a lot of birds, especially during the breeding season.
