Land Details

Food: Food Plots, Agriculture, and Natural Forage
We are located at the transition zone from Texas Hill Country to the Tamaulipan Thornscrub or “brush country." This region of Texas is known for shorter trees and numerous shrubs, most of which contain thorns. Many of those shrubs and forbs are nutritious for deer. We plant food plots during the fall and winter as well. Also, deer blinds are matched with a corn feeder....

Landowner Rules: Texas Hunter Education rules: Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course. Proof of certification or deferral is required to be on your person while hunting. If you were born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, and you are: under 9 years of age, you must be accompanied. (*See definition of accompanied.) age 9 through 16, you must successfully complete a hunter education course or be accompanied. age 17 and over, you must successfully complete a hunter education course; or purchase a "Hunter Education Deferral" and be accompanied. Texas license requirements: A Texas Hunting License is required for anyone who hunts game within the state. Licenses can be obtained online through the TPWD website, or through a number of vendors throughout the state. Fees for the Texas Hunting License vary depending on residency, age and the type of hunting activity. For more information, please consult the TPWD at www.tpwd.state.tx. Safety tips: 1. Treat every gun as if it’s loaded. Every time a gun is handled, check to make sure the gun is empty of shells or cartridges. Always assume the gun has the ability to load itself. 2. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction. No one should ever see the muzzle end of your gun. An experienced hunter is always aware of the safe direction to point the gun’s muzzle and would not hunt with anyone who doesn’t do likewise. 3. Be sure of your target and beyond. A safe hunter would never take aim at a sound, movement or flash of color. A safe shot is taken at a positively identified target against a clear, safe background. 4. Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot. No horseplay with a firearm. 5. Unload guns when not in use. Have the actions open to ensure a gun is not loaded. 6. Store guns and ammunition separately. Store in a place where the guns are out of reach from children or careless adults. 7. Be sure the barrel and action are clear of obstructions. 8. Never climb a fence or tree, cross a log or stream, or jump a ditch with a loaded gun. 9. Never shoot a bullet at a flat, hard surface or water. 10. Never consume alcoholic beverages or drugs when handling a firearm. Alcohol or drugs should not be used before or during the hunt, or when cleaning a gun. Always be fully alert and in control.

Born and raised on the same ranch where I reside with my family today. I developed a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors. I enjoy fly fishing with a kayak or wading a small creek. Being just a few hours from the Texas coast I also enjoy chasing Redfish, trout and drum in the bays. My favorite time is a good Fall deer hunt. The harvest ends with turning all of this amazing meat into sausages, Biltong and other foods to nourish my family.
