Reedfly Farm
Our farm & lodge are situated right on the banks of the magnificent Yellowstone River. On our 105-acre property, we have 2 pivots of hay that run directly to the bank of the river with old timber in the northern part of the property. We consistently have anywhere from 30 to 100 whitetail deer that come out to graze on the pivots every day, which gives ample opportunity for hunters. We have 3 tree stands on the property for our guests to use, all strategically positioned where deer come off of our private island to feed in our alfalfa fields each evening. We're offering archery, doe-only hunts for now, but allow 5x5 or better bucks to be taken with a trophy fee of $500. This is a perfect property for novice bowhunters and kids looking to get plenty of 20-30 yard looks at passing deer, and ethically take a shot. We donate a portion of our revenues to 1% for the Planet which funds local Paradise Valley conservation organizations dedicated to the wide-open spaces and clean water of the Upper Yellowstone Watershed.
If you love to fly fish, you can turn it into a day of fishing on the Yellowstone and evening hunting from a tree stand. Just book fishing as part of your hunt.
We can offer lodging to go with either hunting or fishing bookings as well. Inquire when you make a booking request. The perfect hunt is a two night stay with three evenings of tree stand hunting. You will definitely get a shot, and you can hunt mornings and evenings (with only a 10 minute walk to the tree stand from your room), and fly fish the Yellowstone only a few yards from the back door of your room.
We're in the 314 unit where residents & non-residents alike can purchase whitetail doe tags over the counter ($10/resident & $75/nonresident). We have a long whitetail season starting Septemer 7th - October 20th then reopening October 26th - December 1st (2019 season).

About 25 deer in the pivots, as per usual! This is a great spot for a morning/evening sit with some fishing on the Yellowstone during the day!

Landowner Rules: Park at designated gate which is marked by large basalt boulders and a LandTrust signed and locked, video-protected gate (to keep poachers away). It is located just off the east side of Highway 89 with large boulders marking the gate entrance; roughly 3 miles south of Emigrant, MT. Park at gate, cross the fence, and walk about 500 yards to the Yellowstone River (a channel of the river) where three tree stands are located (first time hunters will be taken to the exact location). Deer will move from the island to the alfalfa field. Call us if you make a clean kill, and we'll give you the keycode to the gate so you can drive in with your vehicle and pick up your harvest. Best time to hunt is from 3 hours before sunset to sunset. If you want to show up early, and fish the river, you can pay the additional fishing fee and flyfish all day, then switch to your hunt three hours before sunset. Cast and blast (er, "swish").

Born in Billings Montana and raised in Paradise Valley, I've hunted, fished, explored and written about the ancient and more recent history of Paradise Valley...the first entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Come stay with us at Reedfly Farm and hunt our properties and the public lands we have access to. We are only interested in ethical hunters, who know their limits and respect the game we are lucky to be able to harvest. If you're one of those people, we would love to host you at our facility and share with you our love of this place.
