Salty Cracker Aqua Farm | Point 1
Yankeetown, Florida, United States
5 Acres
Old Florida Saltwater Fishing.
Salty Cracker Landing offers private island fishing on Florida’s Nature Coast, about 10 minutes from Yankeetown in the Crackertown area of Levy County. Locals have wanted to fish this spot for years, and we’re now opening it up with a limited number of day passes. There are three designated fishing spots out on the point of Hickory Island, along with a private boat ramp, so you can skip the public ramp and spend the day on the water.
Point 1 sits on the north side of the point, right at the boat ramp, looking out over open water and small islands to the north. It’s the most convenient spot for launching and loading a boat or kayak. The ramp is shared by all three spots, so other guests may come through to launch.
Hickory Island is mostly marsh and wetland, surrounded by small islands and open water. Redfish, snook, speckled trout, sheepshead, flounder, and tarpon are all present in the surrounding waters, covering both the inshore and nearshore fishing this part of Florida is known for. Each party gets its own assigned spot, and you’re welcome to explore the rest of the island from there, as long as you stay clear of the other parties’ spots.
Bring a cooler. Our family builds the grills down on the point, and they work well for fish and oysters, so you can cook your catch right there. Every day pass includes use of our boat ramp, so you can launch a boat or kayak, head out to the surrounding spoil islands, and come back to a private place to park. We also provide a port-a-potty.
We’re a local, family-run startup, Salty Cracker Aqua Farm, growing oysters and clams right here. The property is also home to the cemetery of the Hodges Family, one of the most prominent pioneer families in this part of Levy County, and guests are welcome to walk out or have a picnic there.
Day passes are full-day access. Each spot allows up to 4 guests and one vehicle. Bringing a bigger group? Book one of other spots.
No hunting or firearms on the property.
A few things are important to know before booking. The only road to the property runs two miles through the marsh, and tidal conditions can occasionally push water over the roadway. We allow cancellations and rescheduling when this happens. When you reach the four-way, take the jog to the right. The road straight ahead leads to our home, which is off-limits to guests. Sudden severe weather and lightning are part of the coastal Florida reality out here, and guests should plan accordingly. Please do not touch or disturb any of the aquaculture equipment on the premises.
