The thick CRP fields and grassy corners surrounding the row crops create excellent upland bird habitat, especially in late fall when cover tightens and food sources become concentrated. Hunters can expect productive flushes along the edges where our native grasses meet open ag ground.
Solid Bird Hunting approx. 30 minutes from Ames, ISU. 20 minutes from I-35 corridor to Minneapolis-St Paul (3 hours) to the north and Des Moines to the south (45 minutes).
Just outside the town of Zearing, we have three available parcels, including 33 acres along the Middle Minerva Creek. This land has been shaped by four generations of cattle and row crop farmers. Today, it’s a mix of CRP ground, brushy edges, and productive ag fields growing corn and soybeans.
The CRP fields, grassy corners, and creek bottom create excellent holding cover for upland birds, while natural standing water and a winding creek on our Middle Minerva Creek parcel provide an essential water source and travel corridors.
