Thievin Ranch West
The Thievin Ranch is a 4th-generation ranching operation based out of Daniels County in Northeast Montana. We have just over 8,400 acres of private land in total, in addition to over 12,000 acres of deeded state land. The ranch is split into two separate LandTrust listings, Thievin Ranch West and Thievin Ranch East.
This is our West Listing, which consists of over 4,700 acres.
Our ranch is big, sprawling country with rolling hills and textured draws. We also have an abundance of water sources, especially springs. In addition to our wide-open prairie, we have farm ground, rangeland, and CRP grasses all available to sportsmen during their booking.
Our habitat, plus the size of the ranch, makes for excellent deer hunting for both whitetail and mule deer. Antelope hunters are also welcome to hunt the ranch. Big Game Hunters will have access to our entire 8,400 acres across both listings. You can book the package below.
Our CRP grass and prairie are great for sharptail grouse hunting with the occasional pheasant. Long-range riflemen are invited to smoke some of our gopher and coyote population as well.
We are pleased to offer very affordable freezer-filler doe hunts at just $25 per person per day. This is a great option for youth, first-time, or novice hunters.
Multi-day bookings are encouraged! Guests can book a night of RV access or request to add it on to their hunt.
We are just under a 45-minute drive from Scobey, MT.
Ranch Update 9/8/23: We have split our original listing into two separate listings to give upland bird hunters more opportunities. We will still be offering big game hunts, which will give sportsmen access to the total acreage of both listings. All sportsmen who have booked any hunt (big game or upland) prior to this date will have exclusive access to the full acreage of both listings as advertised when you booked the package. Please contact LandTrust with any questions at (406) 709-8450.

This is a spectacular property! We saw several groups of whitetails and mule deer around the ranch. They seem to really like to hang out in the draws and near the springs. We also spotted a small herd of antelope in the distance during my visit.

What a great property to hunt Sharpies and Huns. Although I didn't have the opportunity to meet Ryan in person, I did have the opportunity to meet his father Joe and Hired Hand Aaron who both were very very nice and accommodating. I stayed in my rv while hunting their property and couldn't have asked for more. Both Joe and Aaron couldn't have been more helpful with putting me on birds. Theres plenty of property here to hunt several days without hunting the same place twice. I did also see my share of deer and a few antelope which was nice. Thanks you guys for allowing me the opportunity to see what Montana had to offer.

We had a great time hunting on the Thievin ranch. Even with deer numbers generally lower, we saw plenty of game. We filled our tags with both whitetail and mule deer. Sure hope we get to come back next year. Many Thanks Ryan !! Best, George

My brother and I hunted this property recently for mule deer. We had a great time! The property was really nice and we saw a lot of deer and other wildlife. We enjoyed meeting Ryan, he is a good guy and good host. We would definitely like to return here someday.
Reviewed by Guest on November 2024 We hunted Ryan's place for a week. I never got to meet him because he was working cattle, but he was an absolute pleasure to work with over the phone. The ranch was everything he said it was. We had a great 5 days and enjoyed all of it. Highly recommend Ryan and his property to anyone looking for a prairie style hunt. Thank you again Ryan for a great experience!

Great property with deer in different locations on the property. Ryan was helpful in discussing two areas of the property deer were seen. Lots of land to glass deer. Enjoyed my hunt on his property.

My son and I had an absolute blast hunting on the Thieven Ranch! My son ended up shooting a beautiful buck on the last day after sorting through countless bucks. Tons of mule deer is the best way to describe the ranch mule deer population. Ryan was extremely helpful and prompt to answer any of our questions. I would highly recommend booking this ranch.

I had a great time on the Thievin Ranch, Ryan and his dad were very nice and steered me to the right places to find the game I was looking for, saw good numbers of deer and filled my Antelope tag. They have a beautiful ranch, I’ll be returning next year.

I would like to write a review of our hunt and say Thank you to the land owner for all he did for us. I would like to thank land trust for helping us and especially Ryan Thievin for our hunt. Our group hunt filled all our tags and the hunting was spectacular. Our group was just hunting deer but we could have bird hunt and the scenery was amazing. We will definitely be booking a hunt in the future! Thank you for everything Ryan and Thank you Land Trust.

We had a great time. This is a very good place to hunt both deer and grouse as game was plentiful. This family operation is very generous with their property and anyone that hunts here needs to be respectful of that so they continue to allow access. I'm old school so to get a chance to meet this family and hunt on their ranch was awesome!! Thank you all SOOO Very Much!! Best, George
