Property Visited

The corn adjacent to the creek bottoms looked amazing this year. The grass in the ungrazed areas was 1-2ft tall and with the well maintained timber, this property is extremely huntable. You can walk right out the back door of the house and be hunting turkeys and deer.

Our experience at Walnut Creek exceeded our expectations. Our lodgings were clean and very comfortable, with a full kitchen and plenty of room. They directed us where the best hunting opportunities on the property were and gave us plenty of options of where to hunt. We hunted mid-season, and while the birds were wily and made us work hard for the ones we got, we got into several coveys and a few roosters. We were into birds within five minutes of starting our hunt. Definitely plan on returning to Walnut Creek.

Doug and his friends were so nice to host. We texted quite frequently to maintain contact. They left the house so nice that we barely knew they were there. They seemed to enenjoyed the hunt even though the birds were fewer in number. The rain (which we were grateful for) cut their hunt a little short, we hated that for them. We look forward to their return and further friendship.

Maureen exceeded our expectations. So willing to show us around- had easy property maps- had reserved signs on all land plats for us- the drought this year left limited birds but didn’t stop us from shooting roosters and seeing covey of quails. Many hens spotted. We will be back and thank you.

Another great hosting experience. Linda sent me messages many times before the trip. They were very self-sufficient although they did not see as many birds as we hoped, they seemed very happy with their experience and said they wanted to return. They were careful to stay on the lands they were told to hunt.

Daniel was a great guest! Very polite, and it was like an old friend we had not seen for a spell as soon as he arrived. We hope he will return to the wild west.

Kenny was another great Landtrust find. Respectful of property, courteous, and enjoyable. He and his four-legged friend were great hunters and visitors. We hope to see them again. Nice to have people who enjoy hunting and wide open spaces.

Maureen and her family were super nice folks. I met them first thing in the morning and her husband helped get us lined out for our hunt. Their son Justin was a big help when we needed direction. Bird numbers are down but we still managed to find a few birds and have a great weekend. There’s nothing like spending time with family and friends and watching my dog do what he loves to do. Thank you again to Maureen and her family for opening up their farm for others to enjoy.

Landtrust has introduced us to another group of courteous, friendly, conscientious guests. They left things so nice. We only wish the bird populations were significant this year, but they did not complain. I hope to see them again.

I sure enjoyed hunting at Walnut Creek Encounters. Large mature Bucks get harvested in this area yearly. Heat and drought made the early season hunt pretty challenging this year in Kansas. Jay and Maureen are easy to deal with and are sure nice folks. Their farm contains a lot of cover, as well as AG fields.

We were very fortunate to have David as our guest. He was very courteous and respectful of our property. We enjoyed visiting with him and did not complain about the awful dry conditions that non of us had control over. We hope he will return when the Kansas weather is more favorable.
