A note on Colorado State Trust Lands:

State Trust Lands are not now, nor have they ever been public lands available for public access. The State Trust Lands program was initiated by the federal government which granted these lands to states at statehood for the purpose of monetizing in order to fund public schools. Grazing leases, oil & gas leases, hunting & recreation leases are just a few of the ways these lands are monetized to raise money to fund public schools and in 2018 alone, Colorado State Trust Lands distributed over $122.3M to Colorado public schools. By booking this property and other State Trust Land properties on LandTrust, you can be happy to know you're directly funding public schools through your outdoor adventures.

The property is beautiful and in excellent condition. Abe is a class act, and he was very easy to contact, and the instructions and directions were easy to follow. While I did not have a successful hunt, it is always fun to take the rifle for a walk in the woods. I am very grateful for Abe's hospitality. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick day trip.

I had an incredible time on the property; unfortunately, we didn't have any luck, but there were a lot of signs and excellent habitat. Abe is a great host and is easy to contact. I would recommend it to anyone trying to get away from the city for the weekend.

Thanks for letting us enjoy your property. It's a beautiful piece of land. I rented this to go fishing which Abe said had not been done for a couple of years. The water flow was down this time of year, and the creek was tough going due to all the trees and brush. We only went about halfway up the creek so would try to get to the western half and perhaps try walking the north side of the creek if we give it another shot next year. There is quite a bit of foot traffic when coming from the James Creek trail but that did provide easy access to the property. It was a beautiful day but the fishing was not what we had hoped for and this unknown possibility was made clear up front. Thanks for the experience.

Property wasn't bad. For hunting it was a little weird having tons of public walking through with their dogs on the trail. Terrain wasn't difficult to negotiate and the amount of down timber wasn't horrible. There are some areas on the property with decent sign.

We had the property April 8th-9th and access the property through the South Saint Vrain Trail near the Tahosa Scout Camp. The day was beautiful and the property itself was beautiful. I would note the trail is popular and was well used as we came in and out and the number of people of it did make us a bit uncomfortable for hunting anywhere near the trail. How it is did not really seem to match what was in the description things between the --- are quotes from the web site and blow that you can find my comments. This statement: --- A note on Colorado State Trust Lands: State Trust Lands are not now, nor have they ever been public lands available for public access. --- Is interesting since a public USFS trail runs through the property and appears popular. Please keep this in mind if you intend to hunt here. Under Property details & Ground Rules: --- Property boundary is partially fenced & posted --- I made an effort to look on the property where the the South Saint Vrain Trail comes into and leaves the property and I found no evidence it is posted at all. It certainly is not marked on the USFS map at the trail head. --- Will there be other hunters on the property for the days I book? No, all hunts through LandTrust.com grant you (and your party) exclusive access to the entire property during your selected days --- We heard high power rifle shots that seemed to be north of us on this property on Saturday. It certainly wasn't exclusive for people hiking (not even close) but I don't think it was for hunting. While there is probably no real way to control access here as it is not even posted that I could see it seems like it is open to people coming in from the Roosevelt National Forest. Also it seems there is a parking place and trail right above James creek and below Lewis George R Revocable Trust? If anyone has tried that please comment.

Tough getting in snow was deep and runoff made it extremely hard from the designated parking area. On top of that the road was still closed to the parking area. I still had a great time in the woods.

Well, we went up to look for turkey and due to how much snow was still on the ground we couldn't even get to the parking spot. So we parked a little further away and hiked in about half a mile to the parking spot and then into the woods a little bit. We turned back after only about a quarter mile into the woods because of how deep the snow still was up there. Never even made it to the property. Maybe in another month it will be accessible and we'll try again?

This is a small but pretty State Trust Land. A nice stream with fish runs through it. Variety of terrain, open fields & forest. It was a pleasant day.

Great piece of land, and close to the front range and Boulder. It was snowy and cold for this hunt and I was unsuccessful. Saw deer sign and track but no luck. Really great place to spend a Sunday morning in any case. Thank you for the privilege of hunting there.
