Whispering Pines is a 150-ac all-inclusive tract of loblolly pine and hardwoods located in Chappells in Newberry County SC. There is a full-time creek and dry creek on the property. Topography is rolling, with three high points. I live on property. Six (6) miles of firebreaks allow ample access to all stands (farthest stand .35 mile/629 yards from the house).

Follow this link to view drone footage of the property: Drone Footage

Game opportunities include: deer, turkey, bobwhite quail, feral hogs, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, coyote, bobcat, fox, and armadillo. Natural food sources include acorn, hickory, black walnuts, persimmon, muscadines, berries, beautyberry; five (5) man-made food plots: soybean, sorghum, clover, chicory, cowpeas, chufa, purple top turnips, radishes, and a southern wild mix from NWTF; Battery Feeders: Five (5), dispensing shell corn twice a day and cob corn supplement.

I have registered the property with South Carolina DNR to night hunt coyote, hogs, and armadillos.

This is a semi-guided hunt in that all stands are fixed and established; food plots and feeders are established; shooting lanes are well groomed and established. After another full-day hunt at Whispering Pines, my 10 out of 10 review doesn’t change; even though, I saw no deer. The hunting opportunity at Whispering Pines is excellent with the nine stands in diverse setups for all hunters!

Mike K is a great guest. He is timely and ready to hunt as soon as he arrives. He is respectful of my property and of my rules. I would gladly have him back again. He uses the OnX hunting app and has loaded all of my (9) stands into it. He can easily find his way now to anywhere on the property.

Mike K was a wonderful guest. During his scouting trip on Oct 20, he decided to book two days (22nd & 24th) of the following week. Since we had just gone over the stands, property lines, and general rules we discussed the weather (wind & temp) for the 22nd. Mike showed up promptly and I met him in the driveway. We quickly rechecked weather for any changes while he dressed and got his gear set. He definitely comes prepared and organized, having hunted public lands he has a systematic process of putting on all his gear making sure each item is in its specific pocket or on his backpack. He’s also developed a clever system of a garden cart and sled to haul anything he harvests hooked to a beltloop so he can essentially walk hands free towing his gear and animal. We decided the best stand for that morning was 5D. Mike was texting his buddy just before 9am when he looked up to see a deer 76 yds away at a feeder. Easy shot for Mike, double lung and the deer didn’t go far. Additionally, when we walked back to the feeder, we noticed a fallen pine tree had a fresh chip in the bark. The bullet he took the deer with had passed through, ricocheted off and down to the ground. He was able to find the bullet he harvested the deer with. Mike’s jovial personality and attention to detail are qualities in hunters we want here at Whispering Pines. His life experiences and places he and his wife Cindy have been are entertaining. Mike is a responsible and respectful guest that I’d welcome anytime at Whispering Pines. He is completely self-sufficient, uses OnX like a pro and requires no additional assistance although I offer. I look forward to him hunting here again and hope he becomes a regular client.

Let me start by saying Michael is very knowledgeable and gracious. We started off by looking at the property and deciding how to go about the hunt and locations. He knows his property like the back of his hand and it shows. He’s put countless time and effort into his area to make sure you have the best hunt and best time possible. He’ll try his best to get you on to something, and give you the highest possibility of success that he can. Thanks Mike for an amazing hunt. Will definitely be booking again and looking forward to another one.

Carey or CJ as he is better known, was a fantastic guest! I would welcome him again if he chooses Whispering Pines. CJ is a proficient bow hunter, very much an outdoorsmen and knowledgeable about the various plant species here on our property. He’s discussed bringing his son along to pass down the hunting sports to the next generation. I look forward to hosting him when he books again.

Adam booked an archery hunt and had informed me he intended to use his crossbow. Wow, those weapons have come a long way since the old Barnett brand, And accurate!! I had kept Adam aware of weather and wind directions while we planned what stands would be best in regard to weather and weapon choice. He is pretty meticulous in his planning and packing so it was great when he arrived ready to go. Being a retired veteran he’s professional, courteous, and a consummate outdoorsman. I’ve actually had the opportunity to hunt with Adam on veteran hunts sponsored by 501(3c) groups. His comradery and friendship are a great pleasure to me and those that know him. Adam is welcome anytime at Whispering Pines and I hope to see him again soon.

Mike D is a great host, easy to work with and provides a lot of High Value information for people who have never hunted on his property. Mike has incorporated information gathered from his years of hunting on the property. biologist and foresters to provide a visitor with high probability locations that increases the odds of seeing game animals. Mike has performed exhaustive work in preparing visitors with plenty of information to help them make informed decisions prior to and upon their arrival. Mike is easy to work with, very accommodating because I was dealing with varied weather forecasts, and helpful in the decision-making processes. Thank you for a great trip Charles Stanley

Charles S is an exceptional sportsman and a true professional in every respect. Throughout his time here, he was prompt and courteous, demonstrating a great deal of respect for both the process and the environment. Prior to his visit, I provided him with detailed planning information, and we worked together to monitor weather conditions and deer patterns. This preparation allowed us to place him in ideal stands, maximizing his chances for success. On this occasion, Charles chose to bow hunt, but he is equally proficient with a rifle. His experience extends across multiple species, including Whitetail deer, Mule deer, and Antelope, and he is also an enthusiastic and skilled fisherman. I highly recommend Charles and would gladly welcome him back anytime.

Whispering Pines is a 5 star operation. Mike Dailey and his wife, Louise are perfect host. I booked a hunt for October 1-3, well before hurricane Helene. Mike had a beautiful piece of property with stands, feeders and shooting lanes well planned out. We had the opportunity to change our dates due to the tree damage and lack of power in the area, but Mike welcomed us as if it was just a minor inconvenience. Mike is very dedicated to seeing that all his guests have an awesome hunting experience. He is on top of the situation and follows the wind, weather and deer movements daily. He is very informative before each hunt. We saw deer on about 50% of our sits, passed on deer we didn't want to shoot and missed on the ones we did. Muzzleloader season is a challenge. We are very much planning to return to Whispering Pines.

Whispering Pines enjoyed the pleasure of hosting Joe C and his hunting partner Dave C 1 – 3 Oct 2024 for the first days of Muzzle Loader season. Despite the challenges we faced in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene (no power; numerous trees down, etc.), both Joe and Dave were great guests and seemed to be engaged with the evening discussions on the next day’s weather and what stands would be the best options. Joe provided valuable feedback which led to safety improvements such as the addition of harness anchor points and the planned upgrade to thicker pull-up ropes for your weapons into the stand. His perspective as a client was very beneficial and will make things better for everyone. As a landowner it’s important to me to host guests like Joe and Dave. When my clients are engaged and helpful, it means they respect my property and what I am trying to do. I look forward to hosting Joe and Dave again anytime they feel they want to come back. Respectfully - Michael D

I am a military disabled veteran and property owner. My wife and I live on our property, so you will meet us when you come out. We are both fully retired and are working to improve our tract environmentally and through the game animals that live here.

I've been hunting since my teens (upland birds) in Connecticut. Deer hunting since my 20's and various other species when I get the chance. I took my first two-phase black bear (Chocolate/blonde) in Manitoba in May '23, my first tom turkey on our own property (20 lb w/ 9 1/2in beard and 3/4 in spurs), I've taken hogs in SC & GA; Geese & sea ducks in VA; and have been Elk hunting in Mt and Carabou hunting in Alaska.

My goal is to give you a semi-guided hunt at self-guided prices. I want to hear the story from start to finish of your experience or even more so your son/daughter, grandchild harvested their first here with us at Whispering Pines.
