Axtell Ranch is a gem of a ranch on the outskirts of Bozeman. The Gallatin River runs along the eastern edge of the property with wonderful fishing opportunities. The timber in the river bottom and heading up to the high ground is home to whitetails and turkeys with mule deer on the higher ground.

5.0Had a great fall turkey hunt at the Axtell Ranch. Joe & Barb were so helpful and welcoming. Told me where I might find turkeys over the hill and that's where I found them. The Axtell's welcomed me like family. While I didn't harvest a turkey (called in jakes and hens to 54 yards) I enjoyed my time and beautiful scenery.

Very nice and welcoming couple! Sent me pictures and showed me where the turkeys were the evening before my hunt and even let me walk around the day before my hunt. I highly recommend booking a hunt!
Reviewed by Guest on September 2024 As always, we had a killer experience out fishing the Gallatin as it meanders through the Axtell Ranch. Cooler temps have brought the water temp down and the fish were plenty happy to take both terrestrials on the surface and nymphs below so you could fish it any way you wanted. This is one of my favorite spots to fish.

Thank you for opening up your property to us. A great time was had what a beautiful place. You were fantastic in moving the date because of thunder storms in the area, the next day weather was perfect. We will definitely be back, my wife's favorite place
Reviewed by Guest on August 2024 What an amazing experience! Miss Barbara Jean is one of the most honest and gracious people I've ever met. She was very forthright concerning the turkey population in the area as this was my 15 year old grandson's first turkey hunt. I would do the calling and he would do the shooting. It was more about the experience than the bagging a turkey. And what an experience! The land is gorgeous! Over 700 acres of prime deer, turkey and with the Gallatin River frontage, trout habitat all within 25 minutes drive of Bozeman. We saw over 30 deer on the way to our blind in the morning. We called a coyote within 10 yards of our decoys. After 3 hours of a light rain, grandson Judah still hunted along the drainage bottom and killed a beautiful Jake Merriam turkey! An awesome experience on awesome land hosted by awesome folks! Thank you Barbara Jean and Mr. Joe.
