Hayfox Ranch
The Hayfox Ranch is home to PRIME turkey hunting habitat right on the Musselshell River, which snakes through a portion of our acreage for about 7 miles! With just over 15,600 acres in total, this is a vast ranch with lots of open ground north of the highway and hayfields adjacent to riverbottom south of the highway.
Hunters will most likely have the best success on our property south of the highway, which consists of 7,000 acres. Turkey, grouse, pheasant, and waterfowl, all frequent these areas. The upland birds love the olive trees along the river and hay ground. If the turkeys aren't cooperating, you can hike further up into our ground in the timbered bluffs and foothills of the western Bull Mountains. Waterfowl can always be found on the river or feeding in our ag fields.
Our 8,600 acres north of the highway is wide open and surrounded by various parcels of BLM, State, and BMA lands. Upland hunters may have some luck working the grass if there's no action down by the river. Cover is much more limited north of the highway, so hunters should be aware of that.
About the Ranch
The original ranch stockright was established in 1882, making us the 3rd oldest ground ranched in the Musselshell area. We work the ranch with our sons, growing hay on the side as well. We love our piece of Montana, and we're excited to share it with you!

While on my visit with Brad and Tara, I saw many groups of pheasants along the river, hayfields, and grassy areas. We also flushed out some grouse. I also saw a large group of turkeys.
