Prairie Dog Hunt

RVers are invited to the Kimmel Ranch for an overnight stay.
This package includes exclusive RV access to our entire ranch plus any DIY outdoor recreation activities such as: hiking, bike riding, wildlife viewing, and photography. If there is an experience you would like to add during your stay, just ask!

We have electric and water hookups available for $50 per day (night).&nbsp;

Booking this package gives you exclusive access for the day and evening you book. Please confirm check-out time with us for the morning after your booking.

RV Experience

Elk hunters have had great success over the years hunting our farm ground and hayfields adjacent to the river. Over 8,000 acres of wide open rangeland is available as well north of the highway.

Upland Bird Hunt

Guests looking to fish are invited for a day or two out on the Musselshell River. Catfish and Smallmouth Bass are the most popular fish you'll typically find out here.
We have kayaks available if you want to float and fish!

Musselshell Fishing Experience

The olive trees along the river and our hayfields are a hotspot for our pheasant and grouse numbers!&nbsp;
Hunters may have some luck working the grass if there's no action down by the river. Cover is much more limited north of the highway as it's wide open country out there, so hunters should be aware of that. Our 8,600 acres north of the highway is surrounded by various pieces of BLM, State, and BMA lands.&nbsp;
Bird dogs are more than welcome!

Pheasant and Grouse Hunt

Come shoot prairie dogs at Hayfox Ranch! This package includes prairie dog hunting at $15 per sportsman per day. Our large town is over 100 acres in size. We look forward to having you out!

Grouse Hunt

The Musselshell would be a great spot to spend a warm Montana summer day. We have 6 kayaks available with oars, which can hold multiple people. We have a designated put-in and put-out spot marked out for your convenience!
Guests can bring their own watercrafts as well, kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, and tubes!&nbsp;
Bring along a picnic for a break during your float.

The ranch has multiple sites available for RVers, for a scenic spot to set up along the Musselshell.
Price is a flat $75/night for an exclusive stay on the ranch with outdoor recreation opportunities available during the day!

Turkeys are really all over the ranch hanging around on our pasture ground and traversing to and from the timber and cropland.&nbsp;
Turkey hunters will most likely find Merriam's on the ranch in this part of Montana.

Spring Merriam's Turkey Hunt

Lodging is priced at $125 per night.
Hunters, horseback riders, and folks who just want to get away and enjoy Montana's beautiful scenery are invited to our cozy little 3-bedroom house. The house can comfortably host 3-4 adults and is pet-friendly.
Our ranch is part of Block Management so if you come out here to hunt, there may be other hunters out here but by staying with us on the ranch you'll have a big leg up on other hunters who are trying to get out to the ranch before light. Instead of a 1.5-hour drive from Billings, you can wake up right on the ranch and start your hunt. We're also happy to board horses if you'd like to bring them. Horses are the best way to fully utilize the property and a lot of elk hunters see more success that way. We've got a large corral right next to the guest house.
As far as hunting goes, we've got a great antelope population which is a big draw for us and we also have a pretty large herd of elk that uses the property in the shoulder season (December - February). There's also a pretty good population of Hungarian partridge. We have LOTS of coyotes that we'd encourage you to come out and shoot as well as a prairie dog town.

July will probably be the best time to come out to the ranch as it will be after the rainy season in June.
This package includes access to the Fifty 10 for long-range prairie dog shooting. We have a series of prairie dog towns throughout the acreage. Help me manage my pest population!!
We've done our best to mark out the general locations of all four of our main towns. These waypoints will be provided, in addition to property boundaries and other access and parking waypoints, upon booking with us.
Your group can take advantage of our electric hookups for overnight stays or make the drive to the ranch from local airbnbs in the Roundup area.
Access to the ranch will be heavily dependent on weather. When roads are dry, access is doable for even small SUVs. However, if we've gotten rain, we will work with you to either reschedule your trip or refund you in full as the gumbo is just impossible to deal with.
At this time, structured lodging is not available on the property; however, Camping and RV stays are permitted. Billings is also just about an hour and a half southwest of the property.
The ranch is located northeast of Melstone, about 35 minutes from Roundup. The Roundup area has several reasonably-priced Airbnb and VRBO options. The Autumn Inn and Big Sky Motel are right there in Roundup as well.
