A note on Colorado State Trust Lands:
State Trust Lands are not now, nor have they ever been public lands available for public access. The State Trust Lands program was initiated by the federal government which granted these lands to states at statehood for the purpose of monetizing in order to fund public schools. Grazing leases, oil & gas leases, hunting & recreation leases are just a few of the ways these lands are monetized to raise money to fund public schools and in 2018 alone, Colorado State Trust Lands distributed over $122.3M to Colorado public schools. By booking this property and other State Trust Land properties on LandTrust, you can be happy to know you're directly funding public schools through your outdoor adventures.

Gorgeous property. Abe was very responsive and a fantastic host. I was unable to locate a Turkey this day (I only had 1 day) however we had a great day exploring the land.

I really enjoyed getting on the property for the day! All communications with Abe were great and his willingness to provide access to the property before season opener was greatly appreciated. I look forward to working with him in the future.

This a great property that holds a both white-tail and mule deer. I didn't get an oportunity to harvest on this visit, but will look forward to visiting again. Abe was very responsive and getting on to the property went off without a hitch. Thanks for the access!

Working with Abe was easy. He is responsive and answered all of the questions that I asked. The property is easy to find and access. There are some deep tracks that may bottom out a standard height vehicle. The property is full of life, plenty of water sources and food. As far as turkey goes, some fresh tracks were found along the creek bank. Spent one day scouting and glassing, became pretty familiar with the layout of the land. Spent the second day hunting with no success. Didn’t see a turkey, didn’t hear a turkey. I’m sure turkeys travel through the property, it’s just a matter of right place right time.
Reviewed by Guest on April 2024 This is a great property lots of place for animals to hide. Good water and cover. The turkeys were not staying on the property but seen a dozen or so managing to fill my tag. It was definitely a travel corridor. Saw deer, lots of dove roosting, ducks, coyotes, and of course Turkey.

Property is easy to find, and the two track was in pretty good shape. You will probably need a pickup to access the bottom of the property. Most of the trees are on private surrounding the lease. We saw turkeys on the private and only one on the lease. Nice property , I would go back.

This property provides a lot of ravines and draws for wildlife. It is adjacent to farmland, which provides good habitat and feed. When driving to the site, pay close attention to the directions, and slow down considerably before you get to each turn. Otherwise it’s easy to drive past the turn off. My wife and I used this day to hike and explore the property!! We want to thank Abe Medina for all his assistance in arranging a special day for my wife & me. We will go back.!!

This is a good program, I would love to see more of the CO STL properties enrolled. Very clear communication and directions to the property were appreciated.

This property is always my goto on the eastern plains. Such a diverse piece of land and multitude of transition corridors for many species. Abe is always great to work with and responsive to any questions.
Reviewed by Guest on April 2021 We filled a turkey tag at Horsecreek. From the sound of it the adjacent property roosts a pretty good flock of turkey. Their range seems to include some of the eastern portions of this site and we were able to call a nice Rio Grande over. Fun property to explore, and even to access. We had a couple coyote encounters, saw signs of deer/elk and watched bison on the adjacent property.

Booking and Information for property was simple and easy to navigate. This particular property was exactly what I was looking for, unfortunately weather played a huge role in my lack of success. Extremely high winds, snow and wind chills below zero hampered movement of animals during my stay, however I will be rebook and be back.
